As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Lullaby and good night?
Do you/did you sing lullabies to your children? Were you sung to as a child? If so, what are your favorites?
Remarkably, although my mother was a singer, she never sang to me. I was always enraptured by the lullabies in Disney movies, mostly Dumbo, Lady and the Tramp, and Mary Poppins. When I had DDs, I promised I would sing them to sleep. I started with La La Lu from Lady and the Tramp, then I read the book "I'll Love You Forever" and I made up a tune to go with that, so now, I sing them both and I hear about it if I forget one! On a bad night, I've been known to pull out Mary Poppins and Away in a Manger (it's a nice lullaby, too!). I can't sing Baby, Mine from Dumbo, though, it makes me cry!
So, do you lullaby?

Re: Lullaby and good night?
I do sing to my kids but not the same thing every night just usually whatever comes into my head. The one song I do sing alot is the finale song from the Mickey Mouse Club which is the last song I sing a lot of the time. Another favorite is Let Me Call You Sweetheart. My mother sang to us too when we were little and she sang while washing the dishes throughout my life, she still does sometimes I believe!

Re: Lullaby and good night?
I made up songs and sang to my son- my how time flies- he will be 20 soon. I also would read him books and change the characters name to his. He hated Goodnight Moon. I sang You Are My Sunshine to my daughter who just turned 15. I also sang Mary Had A Little Lamb- we had a book with all the verses. I sure miss those days.

Re: Lullaby and good night?
Yep - always sang lullabies - and I have quite a repertoire!!
We read our books - and there were some of these that were EVERY night repeats, then it was lights out, with a snuggle and a lullaby or two, then I'd head out. When Amanda and Jennie were little, as I left their room (they used to share), I'd say "Goodnight, little girls, I hope you sleep well" and they would answer, "Goodnight, Goodnight, dear "Mom" Clavell!"
Sarah is the lullaby HOG though - she still needs her snuggle and lullabies EVERY night - and she doesn't want to quit at one!! She has a list of at least 10-15 that she wants, just about every night!! At least I know she loves me - if she can put up with my singing every night!!

Re: Lullaby and good night?
My entire family loves to sing~ some of us are terrible at it but we still love to sing..
Jim & the kids tease me & my brother that we will sing a line to ANYTHING.. If anyone has ever seen Eddie Murphy's "Raw" where he talks about Elvis & in the movies Elvis would break out into song for anything "Elvis, want some lemonade?" & Elvis replies "Lemonade, that cool refreshing drink" thats kinda how we are.. We will sing an answer to a question.. etc.. we've even played the make up a song to the word game... (I'm the bomb.. I used to watch name that tune all the time & kick butt!!!!)
Anyway.. (I did go way off topic didn't I?) when I was little my Mom & Dad always sang to me... There are 3 that stand out "You are my sunshine", "What a wonderful world" & "I went to your wedding" by Patti Paige.. To this day I will cry over that song..
My SIL played preem in a tamburitzan band & they were playing for fun after my brothers wedding rehearsal at my Mom's house & my Mom sang "I went to your wedding" & my big macho brother was sitting there bawling like a 2YO...
I've sung the same songs to my kids.. Jamie could sing "You are my sunshine" before he was a year old... I also had to add some Donny Osmond in there.. "Young Love" "12th of never" "Too young" & of course "Puppy love"...
Funny Osmond song story.. (okay I'm off on another off topic) I used to sing all of the above songs to my nieces when they were little. (my youngest niece Emily used to ask me to always sing 'that lover puppy song") One song in particular by Jimmy Osmond called "Long haired lover from liverpool" made my oldest niece hysterically cry.. the line in the song goes " ..and all the other flowers held their heads & cried because the lovliest of all them was you" Well Lexie started to cry when I sang that & I asked why & she said "because the flowers were sad, don't sing that any more Aunt Annie" She is now 23YO & I'm sure she'd be mortified that I told that story!

Re: Lullaby and good night?
I used to when DS was little. DD (17 months) would rather I just left so she could go to sleep - NOW THAT's my kid
Anyway, when DS was little I would sing whatever popped in to my head - usually a country song. DH got uspet with me when he heard me singing "Friends in Low Places" as a lullaby - I drew a blank and that was all I could remember.

Re: Lullaby and good night?
Nope, no specific lullabies. I would just sing whatever was in my head. This reminds me of that episode of Friends where Ross sang 'Baby Got Back' to Emma and that's the only thing that got her to stop crying
