As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Pixie Chicks-1/21/03
Good Morning Chicks!!
I did very good yesterday. Really watched the calories, drank all my water and went 2.02 miles on the treadmill in 30 minutes which said that I burned 212 calories, but according to the calorie counter on msn.com it was only 179. Close enough. Weight training, stair-stepping and cycling all burn more calories though so maybe I'll switch every now and then. I knew I had to be good yesterday after all the food that I ate Sunday night! Was there a full moon or something?
Thanks Michelle for the calorie counter link! I know I'll be referring back to it often.
Debbie, good for you! Keep up the good work! We're all proud of you too!!
Congrats Michele and Ann on your total weight loss so far!! Ann, at the rate you're going you'll do better than your 10 pounds a month!! You go girl!!
Have a great day everybody and buckle up! The pixie chick wagon is truck'n along!!

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/21/03
I am on and buckled up. Managed to avoid all foods not necessary yesterday. So excited. Got in 2.5mi. last night and did 2.5 when I first got up. Drank over 64oz. water yesterday. It is so cold here today though all I want is tea, coffee and cocoa. 6 below zero when DS and I went to the bus stop (which thankfully is the end of my driveway ) I am back on the wagon and picked up some of the mini rice cakes from Quaker this AM. They look good. Thanks for the tip. Have a good day girls.
Hope you are feeling a little better today Ann.

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/21/03
Good morning! Miraculously, despite my major "cheating" the past few days, the scale says I've stayed the same weight. Whew. Yesterday I walked 2.02 (freaky coincidence, huh, Cindy?) miles in 45 minutes at an incline of 4.5 on my treadmill. My calorie counter said 225 but the MSN calorie counter said 209. Cindy, you're right: close enough! I was watching General Hospital while I was walking and if it had been on longer, I could have easily walked longer. It sure takes my mind off the boredom of the treadmill!
Congrats girls on your hard work so far! Have a good one today!

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/21/03
Hi gals! Wow Ann, 6 lbs. in 2 weeks is really great! Way to go!
By what you all have said, that MSN calorie counter may be a little off. Good! It said brisk walking for 40 minutes would burn 237 calories. I said, "is that ALL!" It felt like I sweated off 5 pounds!. If you have to burn 3,500 calories to burn off a pound, it will take 15 workouts to burn 1 pound!! Yuck!!
I worked out on the treadmill this morning for 40 minutes - 95 days to a permanent habit! The good thing about my workouts is that I drink about 48 oz. of water while I'm working out - that's about 3/4 the water I'm aiming for in a day. So I've been exceeding the amount of water I want to drink.
Thanks for all the low fat snack ideas - I've got the skinny cows, melba snacks, pretzels, and fudge bars on my grocery list! I also like to snack on a graham cracker when I feel the urge for a cookie.
Mayo and salad dressings are a problem for me because I just don't like the low fat kinds. However, I did get some Kraft Light Done Right 1000 Island and it's pretty good. 2 fat grams vs. 16 of the regular - that's gotta help, right! We've been eating salad almost every night. DH likes spinach leaves better than lettuce leaves, and my kids do too! So I mix it with lettuce. Popeye ate spinach and look how skinny Olive Oyl was!
BTW, Cindy, how long did it take you to lose 56 pounds! I think it's great and you're an inspiration to me!
GOOD LUCK TODAY GALS!!!!

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/21/03
Hi all,
I read the calorie counter post and checked out my work out from this morning. I ran 7 miles on a treadmill in 65 minutes and came up with 1175 cals burned. This was higher than the number on the treadmill, that was around 800 cals burned. Though the treadmill did not take in acount my weight. So it must have had a preset weight that is lower than my weight. It sure felt like I burned that many.

Re: Pixie Chicks-1/21/03
Hi Everyone!
Boy I am so psyched.. got on the scale this AM & another pound is gone.. I know that this is 'beginning diet' weight but any way you look at it.. it's POUNDS!!! I have really been good following the diet.. I have not touched any of the fatty, greasy food at work.. I come home & make myself something low cal & healthy.
I have not exercised at all I'm going to try to get on the treadmill tonight before bed but I feel soo sick ( yes, still!) that I don't know how fast or long I could go on the treadmill.
I was LOL at those of you who 'indulged' this weekend.. when I lost my initial weight over 2 years ago ( & then put 20 pounds back on this past winter) DH & I would reward ourselves for every 10 pounds.. for one day we could eat whatever we wanted & we would go out to dinner to celebrate.. It worked & kept us from getting bored with the diet.so maybe you needed the splurge.
Tomorrow is a PTA board meeting & afterwards a bunch of us usually go out for snacks & drinks afterwards at Chi Chi's ( I think it's a national mexican restaurant ) .. AARGH big time fat & calories.. I was thinking of watching what I eat all day tomorrow & then I can have one margarita & a couple of the appetizers.BUT... with me not feeling good, I might not feel like drinking & I can go just for the gab session & drink water or diet coke.. Will let you all know what happened..
Keep up the good work..& thank for the motivation; reading all of your posts today about exercising has really motivated me & I AM going on the treadmill TONIGHT!!
