Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm​. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Which vegetables do you eat (at least somewhat regularly)?

What are the vegetables you eat on a fairly regular basis (at least once a month or so)? I mean both veggies you might eat "raw" as well as those you use as ingredients in your meals.

I'm really curious if there's a difference between regions (especially if you guys in the U.S. prefer other veggies!).

Broccoli, Green beans, Cauliflower, lettuce (usually romaine), garlic, onion, carrots, corn, peppers (green/red), spinach, cabbage.

Most of these veggies I make for side dishes, but a lot of my recipes call for onion, garlic, or peppers.

green beans, corn, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, beets, cucumbers, mushrooms, lettuce (iceberg, romaine), spinach (raw), onions (raw and cooked), olives, snow peas, peppers (cooked),

I love carrots, but unless they're cooked (like in soup) they no longer sit well.

To be honest, there's not a lot I won't eat except lima beans and brussel sprouts.

There are veggies I'll only eat raw, and some I'll only eat cooked.

Raw: Carrots, Cauliflower (only raw), celery, radishes (raw only), peppers, green onions, tomatoes (I know they're not really a veggie - but hey!), cucumber,almost any lettuce,

Cooked: okra, green bean, carrot, tomatoes (if not in stew/soup, then grilled), corn, peas, broccoli (cooked only), peppers, onions, leeks, zucchini, mushroom (technically a fungus, but still), collared greens, spinach, turnips, parsnips (OMG - love these!)

Not much of anything I won't eat. I do not like Brussels Sprouts. Too bitter for me.

If it helps, I'm from the mid-west. For about half my childhood, we were vegetarians (the 10 years between 6 and 16). For the most part, I come from a "Meat and Potatoes" background. Except when we were vegetarians, then it was "Tofu and Potatoes and Veggies".

We're big veggie eaters -- raw, steamed, stir-fried, roasted, fried, baked, marinated, you name it!

tomatoes (which are a fruit, I guess, but feel like a veggie to me)

There really isn't a veggie I don't eat. Carrots, celery, onions, peppers (green, red, and yellow), tomatoes (which is really a fruit I think?), brussel sprouts, lettuce, mushrooms, cabbage (both green and purple), cauliflower, broccoli, zucchini (green and yellow) , green beans, spinach, peas (green and snow)...

Well, I put garlic in EVERYTHING just about, so that's the first thing.

Olives are technically a fruit, but black olives are my most favorite food in the entire world (you may think I'm kidding...but no. It's my "one food you can have on a deserted island" question answer every time ), so I eat those a lot too.

The rest that we eat often:
Lima beans (could eat these every day if I let myself)
Green beans
Peas
Corn
Potatoes
Spinach
Broccoli (DH and DS only, I can't do the mossy texture)
Carrots
Sweet Potatoes

DH and DS also love salads, but I hate any kind of lettuce so none for me.

That's all I can think of off the top of my head that we eat often.

Everything listed so far, except I have no idea what to do with fresh artichokes, so those come out of a can. Avacado is a regular, and when ever I can get away with it, brussel sprouts, but only 3/5 like them! The only thing I really don't like is okra.

Broccoli and Cauliflower are the most common cooked veggies we eat. Green beans and corn sometimes too. Zucchini when it's in season.

Avocado, tomato, lettuce, celery, bell peppers, cucumber, and carrots are eaten raw and more often than the cooked stuff.

In fall and winter, my family loves all kinds of squash and yams, but I do not.

And of course onion, garlic, and celery are common in many of our meals.

Cooked veggies: I like green beans, asparagus, broccoli, sweet potatoes, onions, garlic, bell peppers (all colors), zucchini and spinach. Mostly, I steam my veggies, but I also love to roast them. It gives them a totally different flavor. My favorites to roast are asparagus, broccoli, parsnips and broccolini (but I can't find that at my local store any more)

Raw: I like carrots, bell peppers (red, orange or yellow, but not green - I can't stand them raw!), lettuce, cucumbers, and broccoli

These are the most regularly eaten veges at our house

Cooked: broccoli, corn (on the cob in the summer), peas, green beans and mushrooms.

Raw: Tomatoes are my favorite. I can eat them like an apple. Spinach, broccoli, lettuce, mushrooms, radishes, cucumber, onions,

In the summer, salad items - e.g. lettuce, cucumber, carrots, tomatoes, celery, mushrooms, peppers are top of the list.

In winter, things like parsnips, cauliflower, peas, leeks, beans, broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, swede and potatoes are staples for us.

Oh wow, what a large variety of vegetables you guys have listed! Here's my list:

Veggies we eat all the time:
- bell peppers (red, orange, yellow)
- corn
- onions (regular, red, sometimes green)
- carrots
(- potatoes, which I don't really count as a veggie; it's more of a starch)
(- tomatoes, but only as part of a recipe, never raw or served separately)

Veggies we eat regularly but far less often:
- mushrooms
- green peas
- zucchini (green)
- purple cabbage
- beetroot
- kohlrabi (turnip cabbage)
- white asparagus (only when in season)
