Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm​. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Not happy right now with Petsmart!

I finally found a great groomer for Miss Daisy at Petsmart.
I called today to maker her appointment to get cut and groomed (this happens every 5 weeks) and they tell me that the person I always use no longer works there. I am stunned! I then ask if they could give me her phone number and they tell me no. They say it is against the store's policy to give that info out. OK, I do understand that, so I ask them if they could give me her last name and if they know where she might have gone. They tell me : They won't give me anything!
Marissa loves Miss Daisy!! She was always so sweet with her and so kind and gentle.
Has anyone ever had this happen to you? I just have no idea how to get a hold of this girl.
I made an appointment with someone else at Petsmart....but I am not sure if I am going to keep it.

Sorry they couldn't be more helpful. I don't think they Petsmart Groomers are all that customer oriented truthfully, And I don't know if this is any consolation or not but our 3 dogs were banned from Petsmart - they told my mother to her face that they didn't want her bringing them back. What can I say, we have 3 and if we can take all 3 at one time we're going to - especially since our nearest Petsmart is 20 minutes away and we have to leave them for 3 to 4 hours. The staff didn't like us taking all 3 together - "you have 3 dogs and it takes too much time to do them" What?!?! What should it matter if they do 3 dogs belonging to one person or 3 dogs belonging to 3 people?? I guess our money isn't green enough for them.

I kind of understand where they're coming from. I'd look around for another groomer. Some groomers will let you visit before you book an appointment. We are fortunate that we have a groomer close by that can handle Larry's screaming when he has his nails cut. Do you have a Best Friends Petcare near you? They are wonderful and they don't put the dogs in metal cages, they have little rooms for them. I was very happy with the service I got there, but they're an hour away from us and I can't stand to have the dogs in the car with me for that long.

I'm sorry that happened to you. I hope somehow, some way you can find Ms. Daisy. I've heard our Petsmart groomer tell people the same thing about not giving out any info. They used to have someone who bathed/clipped cats, but I guess she left. (I didn't know people took cats to groomers? ) Anyway, I guess it's pretty hard to find a really good cat groomer, and the poor customer was almost in tears trying to find out where the groomer went, but they said they weren't allowed to tell her anything except that she no longer worked there. I guess it really is their policy, but it's unfortunate when you find someone your dog/cat really enjoys.

Darlene - the thing about them telling you not to bring your 3 dogs together is ridiculous. You'd think they'd WANT business. Guess not.

Some of the "chain store" groomers will mail out postcards of their new locations, but I think they've actually broken a few rules doing that (as the only way they got my mailing address was by accessing the store's database... and I'm sure the store wouldn't be happy about that!)

Are pet groomers licensed in Florida? Could you find her that way?

That's the way we look at it - take us and it's 3 dogs guaranteed, no need to "find" someone to fill the slots. Tell us not to come and it's 3 dogs - and several hundred dollars - less for your business (not to mention the bad word of mouth)

Hope you find a new, decent groomer. I'd start looking on the internet - and then search for reviews. Then visit. I understand where they're coming from, though. They really can't give out former employee names and numbers - you wouldn't expect it at a favorite boutique, so why at a do groomer?
We were once "fired" from a groomers; our Pixie has bad hips and has had ACL tendon refixes done to both back knees. We TOLD them not to put her on a table ("yes, we can put her on a shorter thing and sit on the thing with her to do it") and then, when we went to pick her up - there she was, up on the table, trying to sit while the lady pinched and prodded her! We were getting ready to fire them, but they told us that the dog was too difficult, so we needed to not bring her back.

Well, I called my neighbor and asked her for the phone number of the groomer she takes their little guy to.
It was too late to call, so I will call tomorrow and hopefully be able to get her in sometime next week.
I have definitely decided to cancel my appointment with Petsmart.
