I Flipped. I Flopped. I Flipped. Again. And Than I Finall Popped. PTR/TR - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I Flipped. I Flopped. I Flipped. Again. And Than I Finall Popped. PTR/TR
I'm 55 days out and got back from Disneyland last night so thought I'd start my ptr/tr. Hope you like it.
Who: Me. Laura 38
What: DW Trip #4
When: 30 November - 10 December 2010
Where: Disney's Pop Century
Why: Because I can & I want to see DW during the holidays & actually remember the trip
The name of this ptr/tr comes from the fact that I keep making changes which isn't like me at all. I've changed dates, room type (standard/preferred), room only to package, and finally back to room only. I even changed my requests for the room. The only thing I didn't change was the resort although I might have if a room at POFQ had been available for my dates at the annual pass holder rate when I called. I've ended up with 10 nights in a standard room at Pop Century. I'm not going to go in to all the changes I made partly because it would take too much time & partly because I don't really remember the details.
I also haven't told very many people as I'm determined to make this a truly solo trip. So far I've had a family member or two with me for some portion of every trip. So if they don't know I'm going until the last minute the less likely I am to end up with company.
This has turned out to be a pretty cheap trip in terms of airfare, hotel, & airport shuttle. I got 10 nights in a standard room at Pop for $661.56. Airfare was $79.19 ($75 change fee & $4.19 airfare) & 10,000 miles as I had an unused round trip ticket to Redding California that I had purchased for $230.51 & 10,000 miles for a friend's wedding which was canceled. (Total for airfare including change fee $309.70 & 20,000 miles) Shuttle to/from home/airport was $45.50 which I had already paid when I booked it for my friend's wedding that was canceled so I just had to call & change the dates & times. So the total cost for airfare, hotel, & shuttle is $1016.39 if you include the $276.01 I had already spent on airfare & shuttle for my friend's wedding that was canceled or if you don't include that the total cost is $740.75.
Admission will be a Premier annual pass as I renewed my Disneyland premium annual pass the end of August & upgraded it to the Premier annual pass while I was at Disneyland on September 29th..
I've purchased a ticket to MVMCP on 09 December & got the annual pass holder discount and also booked & paid for the Fireworks Dessert Party that night. I have a lunch adr at Liberty Tree Tavern at 1:45pm on 30 November, a 5:25pm dinner adr at Kona Cafe on 09 December, & finally a late lunch/early dinner adr at TRex on 06 December at 3:30pm. I originally had a breakfast adr at Chef Mickey's on 10 December but realized with the late night the night before for the party & it being my departure day that I wouldn't make it so I canceled that adr.
I've requested a fridge for my room so I'll be able to have breakfast in my room as well as other snack type foods. I'm now trying to decide what to bring in terms of food. I already have some 100% juice pouches from Capri Sun, individual serving packets of cashews, some of the tuna salad kits that come with crackers for about a $1 at WalMart, some Quaker granola bars, & some rice crispy treats to bring. I'll bring some cereal and buy milk at the resort store or food court for cereal in the morning. Other than that the only thing I'm considering getting to bring are the individual serving cups of Dole mandarin oranges.

I'm now 44 days out and have the food I'm going to bring. Today I pulled stuff out & am going through it. I've sorted the food out in to daily bags as much as possible and am now considering canceling the fridge. I could bring the individual serving boxes of shelf stable milk & I have 2 or 3 smaller softsided coolers I could bring & use ice in. This is a very tempting thought as it would save me about $100. I think a run to the grocery store is in order to check out the pricing on the individual serving boxes of shelf stable milk but first I'm gonna check out my softsided cooler collection & see what would work. As for breakfast/snack food that I'm bringing with me here's what I'm bringing: Quaker granola bars, mini rice krispy treats, cherry lifesavers, pb cracker "sandwiches" the kind that come 6 "sandwiches" to a package, individual serving packs of cashews, 100% juice Capri Sun pouches, cereal, & 5 of the Bumble Bee ready to eat fat free tuna salad with crackers packages.
How fun, I'll be on the look out for you as we'll be there at the same time. I hope your dreams of a solo trip work out, and what a great bargain price.

Stop obsessing over juice boxes and daily food bags. Just go and have a good time. If you are flying you have a one bag/weight limit. We took snacks, and didn't use one on the whole trip.

I broke down and told my mom about the trip a few weeks ago and she told her older sister (my aunt) Joyce. So a couple of weeks ago Joyce calls me saying she wants to go to Disney and can she share my room like last time (my first trip back in 2007) and how did we work the tickets etc. The result being that Joyce is joining me for the last half of my trip. Of course that big change has resulted in a number of smaller changes. Those being that I've cancelled all adr's except the Liberty Tree Tavern on my arrival day and bought a second ticket for MVMCP on the 9th. The really cool thing is that she sent me my birthday present early since it has to do with Disney. It's these 4x6 cards that she found on a scrapbooking site and after reformatting the size to 4x6 (they were originally 5x7) printed off. They have some really cute/cool/neat graphics and there's one for pretty much every ride and show at Disney World as well as ones for eating and some blank lined ones for notes. I've picked up some window clings to decorate the room with and if I can find a small cheap fake tree I'll bring that and some cheap ornaments for the room. I've also gotten a flanell backed vinyl tablecloth that has a red background with white printing on it that says ho ho ho on it to put on the table in the room (it was $1 at Dollar Tree).
