As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

i was comming home today and past 2 of the houses i grew up in they changed alot , but it brought back alot of really good memories of growing up alittle tearful but happy times more then bad times .
Every once in a while I drive down the street where I grew up on. It's about 30 minutes from where our home is now. I used to think we lived on a big hill and all the houses were really big. But as I see now, it was only because I was a little kid! Actually, the whole area is kind of run down now which is kind of a bummer...
Yep - and then my mom sold the house!
Actually, I still drive through the neighborhood every now and then. I lived there for 17 years of my life, after all.
My dad built a motel in Lake Tahoe, California in the early 1960s. When I went to visit a few years ago it was completely run down. I was gonna meet the new owner and say my dad built this place. But after taking a look and reading some reviews I just wanted to have nothing to do with it. But the mountains in the area were still beautiful.

In 2001, I moved my Dad up to my area due to his illness. That left me the task of sorting out, cleaning and selling the house I grew up in. Luckily, all of my Mom's stuff was already out (she passed in 1989), or else it would have been unbearable. My Dad is not the sentimental type, so I had to be strong when we went to closing. Meanwhile, I was an emotional wreck.
I know "you can't go home again", as they say, but it was very emotional for me.
We've moved alot over the years (7 times in 30 years of marriage and 6 times growing up). We often go back to the towns/cities we lived in. I don't often drive by those houses though. I learned long ago that my home went with me. The house we left behind. I would have a tough time with moves otherwise.

I can really relate to moving around numerous times and your thoughts about the difference between a home and a house...very well said. My mom still tends to move around abit and when I go to see her...I'm going home.
When my parents sold the house I lived in from birth - 5th grade, they built directly across the street! So I saw that house all the time, including the inside of it - the new owners had a son my age so we became friends.
I don't see it or the house I lived in from 6th grade - senior year in college (the one "across the street") much now because we've moved. However, they are only about 5 minutes from where we live now, so I could drive by whenever I wanted. I have been inside our last house once since we moved - a package somehow ended up there instead of my current home - and it made me sad. It looked so different than when I had lived there.
I live in Phoenix now, but every time I go back to San Diego I drive by the house I grew up in. It is completely different now. It always makes me nostalgic, and makes me miss my parents (who have both passed on) a lot.

One bad thing about moving so much -- home is where you hang your hat! But when we drive back through Pittsburgh, I look at the various homes my parents lived in and the one DH and I lived in for about 3 years. That one was recently sold again and I so wish we could have bought it! I loved the place. First, it was on Main Street -- and it had beatiful stained glass windows, built-in wood/glass displays and a huge amazing fireplace with hand-built contoured stoning.
