As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Today is my third day and I have to admit; I am so confused!! LOL Who knew that a plan that claims to be so easy and "think free" would cause me so many questions!
Anyone else been on the plan? Anyone been on the plan and can answer a couple (hundred...j/k) questions for me!
I've been on their boards quite a bit trying to pick up the info I'm looking for, but my biggest hurdle so far has been trying to concoct something for my coffee!! FF milk is gross, and I NEED flavor (vanilla, etc.) in it. People have suggested SF coffee syrups...getting some today. I hope it's not too "fake." Are you a coffee drinker? That, and getting the 8 glasses of water down a day...I've averaged about 4...ugh. My kidneys are hating me with just that!

yes I am a coffee drinker. Now I do get the FF milk in it, but I also use half regular and half flavored coffee.
but you can always try the fat free flavored coffee creamers. I cant think of the name to save my life right now...
Coffeemate? I have the FF vanilla one, but you can only have less than a TB (at least to have it as a free food) as 1 TB is 25 cal. Does flavored coffee add enough "flavor?" DH and I like our coffee kinda strong.
And how much do you work out? I've been working out 3 times a week (what a chore!) for nearly 80 minutes or so (20 elliptical with the remaining time doing free weights/ab workouts, etc.), but I haven't really noticed any major difference. Oh to be 17 again with *any* metabolism that worked! LOL
Thanks again Janice -- how's that hot friend of yours that looks like Nikki Sixx?? LOL (I asked you that a while ago from one of your TRs).

Anywho, my first weigh in day is tomorrow; i.e. first week is up, but I'm just feeling like I've lost nothing. Like right now, just finished eating for the day and I am so full....

and also go by your clothes getting looser. how do you like the food? i love the pizza's and tacos.
Hi!
I'm not on any systems, but wanted to say be patient with the exercise. After having each of my 3 kids, it took about 2-3 weeks of exercising before I saw and felt any results. And then it took another 3-4 months to get back to somewhat normal, and a full year back to pre-baby weight/look. It takes time, but as long as you're patient, you will get where you want to be.

Yeah I've been in tears all morning since I weighed in at ZERO pounds lost after my first full week on NS. Mind you I have been working out now for like 4 weeks or so at 90 mins. 3 times a week. Yeah, I have been on the pity party wagon all day now. It just seems that no matter what I do, besides NOT eating, I do NOT lose weight. I mean c'mon I'm 31, have never had kids, and I'm stuck at [expletive] # of pounds?? I'm just frustrated, but will keep on the plan and if nothing changes in a week, I'm probably done and I will just have to learn to be unhappy and live with it. Pity party....table for 1.

dont get discouraged, remember muscle weighs more than fat, how are your clothes fitting??
instead of working out 90 mins per day, 3 days a week, try 30 per day for 6 days a week.
and cut out sugary sodas even diet sodas. i drink 4 bottles of water per day.
at least finish out the plan for the month. but dont give up. also join our challenge group.
Well today I went out to have lunch with my girlfriends from my old job (I've been unemployed since February...good Lord am I bored!!), but the jeans I tried on were definitely not more comfortable. I dunno. I following the plan. I feel like I eat too much, but then again it's a lot of food; so I just hope this works.
I, thankfully, don't drink anything other than water and/or Crystal Light (which is SF); so I can't cut out sugary drinks to boost a result...dammit.
I will keep going. SOmething is better than nothing, right?!
I've contemplated NeutraSystem or something else I had seen yesterday on tv called eDiets. Those meals are cooked by a Culinary Institute Team and the meals are designed by Registered Dietitians. I asked my sister about them (she is a RD), and she said that eDiets are a pretty safe bet as she did learn about how they're designed in Grad School. She wouldn't help me come up with a food plan or workout plan, however my exercise every day is jump on our treadmill for 45 minutes while DS plays in his jumper, and take an hour walk with him in his stroller every day (at least where the weather is warm). I do also have an excersize ball and do crunches. I am debating getting the Pole Dancing Work out too (might I add Pole Dancing is so much fun-tried it at my sister's Bachelorette Party last summer and didn't know you can make a workout out of it). Hopefully if I can get a decent amount of sales with Avon as a Rep that money can go to my diet, or if I do get hired by the company of DH's Full-time Day Job, that money can help me too to pay for it.
Oh have you done the orientation to become an Avon rep. yet? I looked into that back in March, being that I'm laid off at the moment, but I haven't really gone through with it (due to unemployment benefits, etc.). If you have, how was it?
On the NS subject, this was week #2 and again ZERO pounds down!! I finally spoke with a counselor. We went through everything I'm doing and she says I'm doing great, but apparently I have REALLY slow metabolism....tell me something I don't know! But I'm apparently not spacing out my meals enough. I'm going to change up the times at which I eat and see if I get any results. It's pretty good so far. It's kind of confusing at first b/c there are add-ins (veggies, dairy, protein, and fruits) that you need to buy in addition to the meals, and after reading the boards I was all lost b/c so many people have "doctored" everything to be more interesting meals. But I'm learning.
So, not to be too bold, but why won't your sister help you with a food plan? I'd kill to have a RD! I think I seriously need one. LOL

I haven't started the Avon Rep Orientation yet, as I just sent in the application online Mon. night, but did get a call from the Sales District Manager's Assistant Tues. which I will either go today (Wed) or Thurs. more than likely Thurs. just due to my car situation (DH and I share a car since he totalled his and he works 2 jobs and needs it more than I do). There's only a fee from what she told me and it's to pay for the training material and it's only $10. You don't purchase anything else, and you get 50% commission off the first 3 sales and then profit off of anything else you sell. Avon's products are really affordable and she says people do earn a lot of money selling their products. I've been unemployed since last Aug. and because of our situation with DS, that's perfect for me to sell and still be a mom with him, and do my school work until I get my degree.
My problem weight wise is even before I had DS almost 2 years ago, my weight used to fluctuate between a size 8-12 (and I'm 5'1" so I should only weigh 120 at the most) and mostly after having my C-section for DS I can't take any of my weight off. I have tried almost everything, and the funny thing is I love salads, fruit, lean meat like chicken and some mild fish, but given we have dinner with DH's family and they're big Meat and Potato people and a lot of their meals are frozen just heat them up entrees the majority of the time, it's hard to eat sensibly like I used to where we would eat fish or shrimp 5 times a week and grilled veggies only marinated in olive oil and kosher salt.
DH gets all mad every time I go out to the store and get some healthy snacks for myself given most of our shopping is done with my in-laws and they think some of it is a little ridiculous(like string cheese, the heart healthy nut mix that planters makes, trail mix, raw veggies). My DFIL is a Type 2 Diabetic, we're always trying to keep healthy food and snacks in the house. Here's another thing I've started doing, I love iced tea and drink that all the time. From when I was pregnant with DS, I got big boxes of Decaf tea bags and instead of adding sugar to it, I love mine with lemon juice, so I pour in a pack of the 2 qt. Lemonade Crystal Light and don't add any sugar to it and still get my lemon tea fix without all the extra carbs from sugar.
My sister doesn't think she's the right person to help me lose weight. It bothered me where she would help our little brother get some baby fat he had gained a few years ago, but wouldn't help me out at all. All the RD's around here are so expensive and our insurance doesn't cover any of them.
Something else that has made me change my eating habits and the commercial for it is very true for Smart Balance, ever since I started using that instead of butter/margarine, I will never go back. DH's parents use it all the time, and believe it or not that's what all restaurants use instead of butter when they cook. My mom has also gotten me to add dried fruit like blueberries, cranberries, and cherries into salads, and flavored almond slivers instead of croutons, and using a 1/4 of a orange squeezed on my salads instead of salad dressing.
The hardest part to losing weight is really watching what you eat and eating habbits. I have to say though that I was happy that the majority of my cravings when I was pregnant with DS were salads, fruit, and grilled chicken, since he loves them. He and I share cups of applesauce, cups of fresh pinapple, apples, bananas, he even gets all antsy when I have a salad and wants the lettuce and he's only 22 months old. He even loves milk and water and only gets juice every once in a while or if we're somewhere hot I give him juice to keep him hydrated, but always wants his milk.
I hope NS works for you. I defanitely need to start one of these out. I have a friend whom I've grown up with and have tried to motivate her to lose weight with me, and she doesn't even believe me on how fruit and veggies help you lose weight. She won't eat fruit or veggies unless it's in ketsup or tomato sauce.
