Tami’s Half-Century Tour @ the CSR 3/21-3/28/09 Pre-Trip Report - UPDATED 2/17 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Tami’s Half-Century Tour @ the CSR 3/21-3/28/09 Pre-Trip Report - UPDATED 2/17
This is my first attempt at a WDW trip report I LOVE reading trip reports and have been on many wonderful adventures with the words of Mestich, Jillybean, Princess Sharon, Caludercap, Karen of the biga$$ spreadsheet fame, MattandKat’smum, to name just a few and thanks to Chezp I have traveled the world so thanks to all of you for the fun times.
My cast of characters: Tami big Disney freak I turned 50 this year and have had a rough few years so this is my present to myself. My beautiful daughter Ali 14, my crazy nephew Joseph 17 (this is his first trip to WDW and his first time on a plane) and last but not least my Mother Sharon, she’s my rock and really deserves this vacation.
I have been planning this vacation since before Thanksgiving and talking about it for awhile at first it was just going to be me and Ali, but then I thought to add Joseph since his here all the time and Ali would have someone to hang out with they are best friends and he is very protective of her so I she’ll be well taken care of. Then last week my Mom said you know I would like to go to Disney with you guys. I almost fell over because she said she would never go to Disney again and that was 11 years ago. I quickly added her and bought her a non-refundable plane ticket so she can’t back out.
A little background, I live next door to my parents and my grandmother (Mom’s Mom) lives on the other side of my parents so we have this street covered. My mom is a great cook and takes care of all of us; we meet in the middle for dinner at least 4 or 5 times a week.
We are flying out of Dallas-Ft. Worth airport at 7 am on Saturday March 21 on AirTran it’s my first time using this airline but they had $200.00 tickets and the earliest arrival time, 11:02am. We are using DME to get to our resort.
We are staying at Coronado Springs Resort and are on the regular dining plan. I requested the Casitas in a (hopefully) remodeled room.
I have tweaked and changed ADR’s so much I’m surprised that I have been able to get all the places and times that I wanted. I changed all the places we had already been to so that we will have all new dining experiences. My final (I hope!) ADR’s:
3/21 Dinner Tokyo Dining 7pm
3/22 Breakfast with Donald at Tusker House 8am
3/23 Dinner Ohana 7pm
3/24 Lunch Sci-Fi 11:35am really dessert only we just want to check this place out. Dinner Whispering Canyon 7pm
3/25 Lunch T-Rex 2:30. Dinner just Mom and me at Raglan Road 6pm. The kids are going to a concert at the House of Blues.
3/26 Breakfast Chef Mickey’s 8am
3/27 Dinner at Crystal Palace 4:30pm this is our only repeat restaurant, but we have never had dinner here only breakfast.
3/28 Lunch Yak & Yeti 11:30am I chose this since AK is the closest park to our resort. Our plane leaves at about 7pm.
I have been trying to work out a touring plan. My mother and I both have limited mobility and I will be renting an EVC for us to share. My Mom has to walk some so she won’t get one for herself but I can get her to share mine. She loves to take pictures and was VERY excited when she heard the Flower and Garden show would be going on. We are all excited to try and catch all the British Invasion shows we all love the Beatles. Ali and Joseph are both big classic rock fans. Across the Universe is Ali’s favorite movie.
I'll have to get my daughter to teach me how to add photos. My goals for this trip is lots of laughter, FAB's, good food, hugs and good times.
We loved staying as CSR last year! We stayed in the Cabanas, a great location and they have a beach out front. A very good resort choice!
And I love Sci Fi, Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace. T Rex is so much fun and the food was yummy, read my current trip report for more details, but I haven't written up that day yet. (my sig pic is at T Rex)
Hope you have a great time, can't wait to read all about it!

A quick update on our plans. Since we leave at 7am we decided to leave the night before and stay at a hotel at the Dallas airport, so I booked us at the Hyatt. I checked on rental cars and it is not much more to rent a car to drive to Dallas and back home as it is to park for the week. So I decided to do that.
So now the plan is Friday March 20 I will go to Texarkana to rent the car after I take my daughter to school. Come home so Mom and I can pack the car. I want to leave for Dallas when the kids get out of school. I plan for us to have dinner at Rainforest Café (to start the Disney vibe!) and then check in to the hotel. Next morning get up and check in luggage and turn in car. Hopefully our plane will be on time and we will be in the World after lunch.
