Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

!st cropping report

Chocolate was a hit...
I had fun with 1 friend there and another lady who is actually the creative memories consultant...but there was 1....

She made comments behind my back (why does she print her own pictures?) said like I was a vampire total freak or something....

I had purposely brought all my border punches (6) and about 10 punches (all I own) I thought I would use and inks for a Mickey Mouse clear stamping set. Now I only had 1 official rolling bag so I guess my mistake was that it was in the scrapbooking boxes I use to store them in so you could see them....I brought them for my friend to use.... she walks over there and is like" Good God is this all yours? "

She spent a lot of time running her mouth negatively about her grandma and her husband.

Ya know, call me old fashioned but My momma taught me that if you cant say anything nice, you keep your mouth shut.

I wouldve rather spent the day bugging my DH..hey what color do you like? and handing scraps to my DS to play with.

I am very fortunate to have my best friend as my husband and he loves me enough to pretend to get frustrated with me during a football game when I ask him what color and loves it that I can follow the game from in here the office.

I have never been one to get with a bunch of "girlfriends" and rag on everyone else anyway.

I had just hoped it would have been different. If that crop is like that with a couple people I do know...I am less likely to go to a store with strangers and expect to fit in...

I know...I'll scrap with my Passporter Buddies whose advice and information are awesome.

Anyone need a rolling tote...used 1x cheap?

Oh trixie - don't give up on the crops yet! It sounds like you had one bad apple this time. She was probably jealous because you had such cool stuff!

I probably wouldn't go to a crop where I didn't know everyone. I have a group of good friends and relatives that love to scrapbook and we stick together. Maybe you can find a few like-minded scrappers that you feel more comfortable with. We love to share ideas, praise, and supplies! Not to mention great snacks!

I totally agree! I love going to crops and wish I had more time to do them, because then I can concentrate on scrapping and not on "Does the dog need to go out?" "Is the dishwasher running?" "I have laundry to do!"

There are some crabby ladies at the crop we usually go to, who make it seem more like a competition. But I go with a friend, her DDiL and another friend, and we have a great time!

Like Shell said don't give up on crops. She sonds like the type that would rag on anyone. She would on me and my sister we have 2 rolling totes and all kinds of boxes and bags we bring. You just need a new place to crop.

My sister and I have givin up on of our Friday crops since noone tlaks to us when we go and the last time we went one girl had her Cricut on a chiar and decided to move it when we put our stuff on some talbes nare her Cricut. I told her she didn't have to move but she did. It was still on the chair and it fell off. It wasn't working right and she was giving me dirty looks like I knocked it off. I never touched it. I was told not use the plug that she decided to use but a parishioner form the Church we crop at.

Now the other Friday crop hopefully we will not be to busy next month to go.

Don't let that one time get you down! I've been scrapbooking for well over 10 years now and have personally worked in a local scrapbook store. I have been to so many crops and classes whether for a few hours or a weekend getaway and believe me, I have seen all kinds! The good, the bad and well the ugly. Funny how rude some people can be! I know it can be a bit frustrating since you are just starting out, but please give it another chance. You might be pleasantly surprised next time you go!

As for me, I was glad that I did decide to continue attending crops and classes. That's how I met all my fellow scrapbooking buddies! Hang in there!

Don't quit going just because of her, keep going and you will get to know a few people and MOST scrapbookers are really nice, and will be friendly. I don't think you have too much stuff, ..... 'one rolling tote'..... ummm not excessive!! Just try not to sit by her if you can help it.

I get more done on my own at home. Because I have a large family and young children, it's hard for me to get out to crops in the evenings. We usually have multiple sport practices and activities for the kids. If we are both home together, I'd rather hang out with my DH.

I used to crop with a group of really neat women from my town, but I found out that it's more of a social hour (for me anyway) I can't scrap and talk at the same time!

You'll find what works for you and I'm sorry you had a bad experience that time.

I'm sorry to hear that your experience was like that. Maybe you and your friend could get together some Saturday and scrap at one of your houses. Or you can head on up to Minnesota in October, and scrap with some of your fellow PassPorters at MOA 7! The whole focus of our weekend is on food, fun, catching up, shopping, and of course a little bit of scrapbooking too! We do Scrapmania at Archiver's on Saturday night of our meet weekend, and it is a blast! Workshop & Event Listings | Archiver’s We make sure that we are all sitting together so that any other people at Scrapmania aren't inundated with talk of Disney!

There are always a few people in the bunch who try to ruin for it everyone. Sandy (whoSEZ) and I went to an all night (5pm to 5am) Scrapmania at Archiver's once. We got there early and set up our stuff at a corner table so that we could put our bags in the corner out of the way. Plus it was convenient to the store, food etc. Well, this group of ladies comes in about an hour after the Scrapmania started, and strongly "requested" that we move so that they could sit together. Sandy was almost ready to cave, but I said "No. We got here early, and we are not moving." I wanted to say "if it was so important to you, maybe you should have gotten here early as well", but I bit my tongue ! Give going to a crop another try; the next time around might be much more fun!

Crops are always hit or miss. I don't have any friends who scrap, so when I go to a crop, I'm alone. I always get annoyed by loud-mouths who know it all. This last weekend was a NIGHTMARE. My booth was next to the loudest group of "ladies" (I use the term very loosely) who made my weekend even more miserable than it already was. Combine that with loud music (I could feel the bass in my chair all weekend...) and I would never have wanted to go to a crop again, either.

I've been to Archiver's, though, when it's been a charming group of ladies who laugh and have fun and chat with people they don't know. I keep my fingers crossed for those kinds of nights b/c there are times that I just HAVE to get out of my house and focus on the scrapbook without interruptions and a store at my fingertips!

I would try it again. I take jewelry making classes once in awhile and I know what you mean. Sometimes people that are there probably are there because they are miserable and just want to be out making other people miserable too. BUT I still go. I learn a new skill or have "my own" fun making something new.

Sorry you had a bad experience, but don't give up on going to crops. It really can be a good way to meet people and make some new scrapbooking friends.

Since you had a good experience with your friend and the other lady, see if they want to get together at your house to crop. Suggest they bring another person or two. Keep it simple - order pizza, make a salad, have some brownies for dessert. It'll be fun to scrap with people you know, and it's always fun to bounce ideas off one another and share tools and supplies.

Don't give up on crops. You'll find your niche one somewhere. There are none in my area so I have no choice, so poor DH has to tolerate me going "does this look right". Now he has put in requests for certain pages to be done. i.e his new car, one for his bike.

Sorry you didn't have a great time. Please don't be quick to judge all crops just because of that one. You will meet lots of talented (& some not very talented but eager) people. Lots of scrappers love to share (that's why we take tools we rarely use to crops - just in case someone may want to borrow them) and you will get heaps of ideas and be inspired to create masterpieces. You may even make lifelong friends too.
I am very shy and hate meeting new people but once I feel comfortable and know they are not judging me, I can express myself and ask questions and share ideas/tools. I usually spend more time preparing for a crop session than actually scrapping when I get there. (I first off must walk the room looking at everyone elses beautiful pages and seeing what classes may be on offer - this also allows me to ask questions of the creator and show genuine interest in their pages).
Good luck, have fun and be sure to post some pages on here for us all to admire...I need some inspiration right now!

Don't let it get you down. I've never been to a crop, but if I did, I'd love to go with fellow PassPorters. I bet it would be a lot of fun and you wouldn't experience those problems.
