As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I had one last Saturday night and it was AWFUL. I felt like I'd pulled an all-nighter after it was over and came home and slept another 6 hours! The tech said that I didn't have enough "episodes" to warrant trying the CPAP, but that I certainly did NOT get the "restorative sleep" I should have for NOT having the "episodes". Basically, she was as confused as I was. She said the results would be back in a week and the doc would decide at that point if I have to come back and give the CPAP a try anyway.
Thing was, with all the wires and cords and tubes up your nose, how the HECK are you supposed to sleep??? It was a strange bed, uncomfortable sheets (OK, yeah, I'm picky), a little on the warm side and WAY too early for my usual bedtime. I felt like I stared at the ceiling or my oxygen monitor most of the 6 hours... but she did say I got some sleep, just not "restful" sleep.
Anyone else have one? What was yours like? (and did it tell you anything...)

Both myself and DH wear a CPAP at night. Yeah, the sleep study was uncomfortable, but after revealing that I awaken 70 (yes, you read that right 7-0) times an hour, it was quite apparent that I have a rather nasty case of sleep apnea.
Sleep Apnea is nothing to take lightly; it can cause high blood pressure and other cardiovascular disease, memory problems, weight gain, impotency, and headaches, among other serious problems. Untreated sleep apnea may be responsible for job impairment and motor vehicle crashes, depression and loss of concentration.
If you have to give the CPAP a try, here is a helpful bit of advice for learning to breathe with it on...put your tongue on the top of your mouth as soon as you get it positioned, this will allow you to breathe normally without being overwhelmed by the sudden burst of air flowing through the mask.
I consider my CPAP a life saving device that I am very happy to wear. I sleep like a baby again, and dreaming is a new found pleasure ( because I awoke so many times a night, I did not achieve REM Sleep, and therefore I did not dream). I am a different person because of it; it has truly changed my life!!!
Yes, I had one several years ago. The first time I was scheduled, they called to cancel a few days before I was supposed to have the study done. I was furious because I changed my schedule for work just to have the test done. They ended up giving me the test at home. They sent a therapist to my house to hook me up, and they came back in the morning to pick up the equipment. I didn't pass the test, so I had to have it done a 2nd time in the hospital sleep lab. I was found to have sleep apnea. I was given a CPAP machine, and well that's another story. Dawn, I had this done when I lived in Akron at AGMC, so I bet you can have it done at home too. Good luck.

My DH has had 3. He was always tired, falling asleep behind the wheel while driving. At night, he would sound like he was drowning, and stop breathing, and then gasp for breath! It was really scary!
He found out from the sleep study that he would stop breathing 60 times an hour! And when your body rouses you to start breathing again, not only do you never get good sleep, but you put tremendous strain your heart. It's very serious!
He lost 58 pounds. He has used a CPAP machine for 4 years. It took him a while to get used to it, but it's nothing compared to horrible load snoring and gasping! For awhile, after he lost all the weight, he tried an in-mouth appliance, but it hurt his jaw too much, and didn't work as well as the CPAP.
I had one done....they said I didn't need a CPAP. I had a horrible nights sleep at the hospital for the test. I too felt like I was staring at the ceiling all night.
I too have had a sleep study. They found that I have a bad case of sleep apnea - I had 70 episodes an hour! That's over one a minute! Very scary! I sleep with my CPAP (which my youngest DD calls my elephant trunk) and what a world of difference! You don't know how much you've missed dreaming until you get the ability back.
I also had the sleep study done and ended up using a CPAP machine. (My daughter also called it my elephant trunk.) After I lost my weight, I ended up not needing the CPAP anymore. I was also rather uncomfortable with the sleep study wires and bedding. But I was so exhausted from not sleeping well, that I was able to fall asleep rather quickly.
My DH finally went to the sleep study that I begged him to go to and what do
you know.....he needed a CPAP!!!!! Also he stopped breathing 30-40 times and hour!
He also said it was hard to sleep at the office, but once he was home sleeping the
tubes and head gear doesn't bother him. The only issue we have now is that the
head gear blows air out and if he is facing me (while sleeping) I get the air blown
in my face. HATE IT!!!!!!! So when he turns to me, he has to pull the covers up
over his head.
I had one. I slept less than 45 minutes and they said I had several small episodes. They made me come back for a 2nd night for the CPAP machine. Guess what? I slept less than 45 minutes again. How in the world can they tell anything with that amount of restless sleep? Wires everywhere and every time I moved one would disconnect and they would have to come hook it up again.
I turned my CPAP back in to the health care agency after trying to use it for 3 months. I slept less in those 3 months than I do just dealing with insomnia without the machine. I couldn't go to sleep until I would finally get frustrated and take it off at about 5 in the morning.
