As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

It's been years since I've made popovers
Forgot to add that I do have a tiny bottle of Asti waiting for NYE. We never go out and most of the time it just Me, Myself & I awake to see the New Year come in and am sure this year it won't be any different. However this year I'm going to be ready with a glass of Asti so that we can at least do a together
NYE I have to work so it will be a frozen cuisine of some sorts. That night I'm taking DS and my niece and nephew to First Night so we'll probably hit the Chick Fil-A stand there. Nothing special on New Years Day. I might call Applebees to see if they are open and take the kids there for lunch with the gift card I have.
Usually a baked ham....but this year I am considering doing something different, the girls thought ribs and since I have a nice rack of ribs in the freezer I might go that route...
We stopped eating the traditional chinese food years ago. We got bored with the "same old, same old." We switched to surf and turf- filet mignon and lobster tail. We've been doing that for the past ten years or so, and feel ready for a change. We tossed some ideas around and decided to go with takeout from "Legal Seafood." Not sure exactly what we're ordering yet (except for clam chowder), but whatever we decide on it will be delish! I like the prime rib idea, maybe I'll make that for New Year's day.

We usually do appetizers on NYE and black eyed peas on New Years Day for good luck. We're kind of appetizered out this year, so I'm not sure what to have. I'm heading to the grocery, and I may pick up a turkey to cook if I can find a good price on one.
I am grilling some steaks (even though we're suppose to be getting another 6" of snow...) and then making some crab cakes, twiced baked potatoes and asparagus.

for new years day my entire family gets together for ham and bean soup, sauerkraut, little smokies, bratwurst, and other random food stuffs that just happen to be cooked.
I don't usually cook anything on NYE, my DH always works so we get pizza and have a girl's night but this year my DH is home so I asked the girls what they wanted for dinner, giving them some suggestions (steak, meatballs and spaghetti, etc.) and they all decided they wanted sandwiches so I think we might actually go out to a local sports bar/restaurant (early - by 5:00 at the latest) named Chickie's and Pete's and have crab fries and chicken fingers On NYD I don't cook I am going to our local New Year's Day Parade (the Mummer's Parade) after parade/party at my sister's house (which is around the corner from the after parade march and party it's a lot of fun. We will appetizers foods and cocktails and the best part is I don't have to bring the kids my oldest DD offered to babysit since she is gong out on NYE

Tomorrow night we're also having Surf N Turf.....filet mignon and King Crab legs, complete with warm drawn butter, and BCC (Broc, Cauliflower, carrots) and yellow squash on the side....both hubby and I like to cook, so we'll both be in the kitchen. We have 2 bottles of the bubbly stuff (I get home by 4), so we should be fine for the rest of the evening! For dessert, we're trying something new. I sorta adopted a few recipies from foodnetwork for Pannettone Bread Pudding and combined them into one....adding a bit of Kahlua and a bit of Frangelico to the custard/egg mix, and reserving some for the sauce!!! We'll top the bread pudding with cappuccino ice cream and the warm kahlua/frangelico sauce....it sounds yummy!!
New Years Day we always have pork, sauerkraut, and potatoes...let them simmer in the slow cooker for a few hours, and enjoy!!!
And for those of you who have never been to Chickie's and Pete's........skip Geno's and Pat's and ask a local where the nearest Chickie's and Pete's is.....the crab fries are worth the trip alone!!

Tomorrow night, we don't really eat anything special. However, on NYD, much to DBF's chagrin, I'll be making sauerkraut and kielbasa. Let the house-stinking commence!
NYE - I don't know! I still don't know what I'm doing, so it will depend on whose party we're going to and what they're serving, or whatever we pick up on our way out.
NYD - Black eyed peas, collard greens and cornbread - the traditional.
We just snack and then have a midnight breakfast....usually baked french toast, quiche or hashbrown pie, fruit and mimosas. Even though we are in the central time zone, we eat when the year turns on the east coast and get everyone home before all the parties start letting out. (especially since we also have my dd's teenage friends with driving curfews!)
