As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

How are your holiday plans and to do lists coming along?
Here: Still no tree up, maybe today. Most shopping done for DJ and my brother's GF's little girl. Walt just put together a short list of gift ideas last night under penalty of terrible things happening to him while he sleeps. Verbal invites to Christmas Brunch extended to all those who usually attend. Still no idea what I'm making for Christmas Brunch. The only thing I'm certain of is coffee, tea, and Mimosas.

Tree went up last weekend. Then we discovered we left off the red glass ball garland when we were decorating this past weekend. Too much work to take everything off the tree and so the garland was put away until next year. We decorated inside and out on Sunday, so the house looks very festive.
I've done all my major shopping, except for DHs parents, who are very tough to buy for. I'm looking for a really nice 1000 piece puzzle for them. Any good online site to try?
I still have to do the Santa shopping, the teacher gifts, the neighbor gifts, and such. I still need to plan Christmas eve dinner and breakfast for Christmas day too.
My mom finished the Christmas decorating on Sunday, but I still have to put my little tree up upstairs. I haven't finished my Christmas cards...I don't see them going out until the Monday after I get back from Disney, which will be one week before Christmas Eve! I am on top of the shopping this year - I don't have much left, and should finish 95% of it after I go to Target tomorrow night. All I'll have left if what I'm getting at WDW. I've RSVP'ed to two Christmas parties, still need to decide on another one, and must find my ugly sweater for my sister's, as well as a Dirty Santa gift for the work thing.
We haven't discussed what we're having Christmas Eve, but the menu for Christmas morning brunch is the same every year.
The biggest hole in my list is me getting a wish-list together for my mom. She's been bugging me about it, but I'm drawing a blank on anything but work clothes. And it's not that I don't need/want stuff - just can't think of it!
All in all, things are definitely coming together!

Everything was decorated and the tree went up the weekend after Thanksgiving. We mailed out 182 cards that weekend also. This weekend a car full of teenagers (spotted by a passerby) stole half of our outdoor decorations. Came onto the lawn, uplugged them and loaded them off. Luke and Brooke are now scared that someone is going to break in to steal our tree. Not an easy situation to explain to a 4 and 5 year old. Anyway, back to the happier stuff. My shopping is DONE except for a few little stocking stuffers. All Brooke's Americal Girl stuff came yesterday from my friendly UPS man I LOVE IT!! DH thinks I bought it just because I want to play with it all (there's some truth to that but I won't admit it to him ). The last thing I have on my to-do list is an open Usborne Educational Book e-party which goes until my house party in late February. So I'm in pretty good shape here - just gonna sit back, relax, and enjoy the season

The Christmas Cards are done and have been mailed. The gifts are all wrapped and hidden away. The front yard and the door is decorated. The Tree is up, but only has garland, lights and the angel on it, tonight we will finish decorating the tree. I still need to bake some cookies and plan dinner and then shop for the items I need. Need to get a few stocking stuffers(I only have toothbrushes for everyone's stocking so far).

Well, I bought a new Xmas tree...and new bulbs at Pier One. After spending $$$ on them, I got them on the tree and realized that A), blue, turquoise, and green bulbs aren't as exciting on a plain green tree as they would be on a white tree that I wanted but couldn't afford (side note - I'm going to see if it goes on sale after Xmas). Also, B), buying a bigger tree means you need more bulbs to fill it - and I come for a family where all of our trees are just CRAMMED with ornaments. My poor tree looks a little naked, I'm not going to lie.
All of my Xmas gifts have been bought online - except for my dad's. I don't know what in the world to get him. But everyone else has been taken care of.
Outside decorations were going to go up, but it started raining on Sunday, and snowed all day yesterday, so now I'm stuck with garland and outdoor lights to put up.
Just put up my tree last night! DD has been driving my , but I don't like to put up any Christmas decorations before Dec 1st. I just mailed all of my sister and her family's gifts to Japan this morning , so now I just need to continue to buy, buy, buy for DD!

Outside lights are up, some decorations in the house. Not going to do a tree this year as we will be at WDW for Christmas and I don't trust the many cats while we are gone wen though there will be someone in the house.
Presents are for the most part wrapped or ordered.

Tree went up the day after Thanksgiving, the mantle decor was done the day after that. I don't do much with the rest of the house. I did have a little tree in the scrapbook/school room, but DDs told me today that my in-laws weren't putting up a tree this year b/c theirs is so old and broken, so I'm sending the little one (already lit and decorated) over to them.
Most of the shopping is done, didn't have much to do to start with. I still need to pick up a few gift cards, and something for my niece. Still need to figure out what I'm going to re-gift to BIL/SIL {insert evil laughter here} I'll work on wrapping after I get back from WDW next week.
Still working on making our Christmas card...I'm having a tough time with it, b/c it isn't quite what I'd envisioned for the year, but as busy as things have been, it will simply be a miracle to get them done/sent.
Had our first Advent Sunday night and it was peaceful (except for hubby's whining about having to look up scripture passages). DDs were panicked when I told them about my little trip this weekend, but relaxed when I said we'd do Advent on Saturday instead of Sunday. "We CAN'T miss Advent, Mom!" Awwwww.

Tree is up and decorated, but rest of the indoor decorations aren't yet and the boxes are still lying around. Cards are made and addressed, but I haven't stamped or - duh! - sent them yet. Santa finished his shopping last July with a family gift of a Nintendo Wii and some games, but we haven't bought yet for extended family. We have two parties this week and one the 22nd, but we'd like to have a night in with our favorite neighbors and have yet to plan one (maybe if I clean up the Christmas Decoration boxes). So I'm half done with the holiday list, which for this time of year is really progressive for us!

I have a wreath on the front door and that's all so far. The tree isn't up yet and I haven't started on the cards, yet. I'm almost done shopping, though. I just have to get my mom her birthday present and a christmas present. As soon as DD gets the boxes out of the attic, I'll put the tree up.
Liz
No tree up or anything dealing with Christmas for that matter yet. One gift bought and some cards but they're still in the box. DH and I are going away this Thursday, Friday and Saturday night to get all our shopping done. We have a favorite resort a little over an hour away and it's become an annual tradition now for us. We take our time shopping and have a nice dinner, then we kick back in a jacuzzi room, watch TV and enjoy cocktails! Can't think of a better way to get your Christmas shopping done!
The cards are done - I just have to dig them out of storage and get extra postage since I forgot to mail them last year! Have got some of the presents bought, but Mom pooped out on Saturday and I had to abandon the rest of the shopping. Still have to get the decorations down and put up. Am contemplating having a Mom-sitter in late one evening so that I can get some things finished!
