As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

We all know that Dyan has a fondness for a certain pitcher/singer but I also thought it might be a fun topic to see who else has some favorites .. in any sport
so who are your sports favorites & more importantly WHY??
Mine:
Pro football: yes, they're both Steelers.. Hines Ward.. gotta love em cuz he loves Disney ( he has a Mickey tatoo) & he's ALWAYS smiling.. but my real fave is Troy Polamalu.. he just seems genuinely nice & is so soft spoken it's hard to imagine him being such a ferocious defender..
Now if we're talking all-time faves I started liking football due to a cutie of a QB.. Mark Malone..
Baseball: Hmmm... I guess I gotta go with the local team & pick Jason Bay.. I haven't followed baseball in forever so I'm not up on the players. all time favorite would have to be Willie Stargell.. he WAS the Pirates & made them "family" I was at the final home game at Three Rivers Stadium which also happened to be the last game Willie ever attended as he died on opening day of PNC Park.
Hockey: Undisputed... gotta love Sid the Kid, Sidney Crosby of the Penguins.. so young & so talented i'm looking for our Pens to do big things this year..
racing: I don't follow it at all.. but have neighbors & several co-workers who do so I know a little of the players.. If I did follow I think I'd be a junior fan. he seems down to earth & very nice.. too bad he's in a nasty dispute with his step-mom..
I don't really follow any other pro sports.. My Ex DH was a big boxing fan but I can't stomach the sport & only watched it to be with him.. the most memorable thing I remember seeing is when Ray Mancini fought Duck Koo Kim
My favorite is the Packers' Donald Driver. That grin . . . his gentle nature . . . his sense of humor . . . he's the whole package. Plus the man can PLAY! Bigred
Baseball: Mets. david Wright, plus I used to be a season ticket holder
Basketball: Nets. Jason Kidd, Richard Jefferson
Football: Dallas Cowboys. Aleways have been
Hockey: Islanders. I live nearby
Racing: I'd rather have a root canal
Football: Jake Delhomme. I love the way he talks...he could read the phonebook outloud and I would swoon. I'm also a Julius Peppers and a Tony Romo fan. Tiki Barber is probably one of my all-time faves.
Basketball: I don't really follow pro-b-ball at all, but Tim Duncan would be my favorite. Almost everyone (but me) went to Wake Forest, so he's one of my family's pride and joys. As for all time - being a Tar Heel, Michael Jordan, of course.
Baseball: I honestly don't have a favorite. I'm a Braves fan, and I really like Andruw Jones, but I can't same I'm passionate about him. Hmmm.
Racing: Mark Martin is my favorite (I've got to meet him several times and he's SO nice), but he's just part-time now, so I guess I'm cheering for Junior!
Hockey: I don't watch hockey much, but I have gone to a few Hurricanes matches and I like Cam Ward when I see him in interviews and such.
The only sport I get into is professional football, and it's no secret who my favorite team is.
I absolutely ADORE Troy Polamalu because in addition to being such a soft-spoken man in the face of such other trash-talking "things" in the league, he is such a man of God and I get chills when I hear him speak. His wife is a very lucky woman!
Hines Ward: He is the epitome of what a professional athlete is. Always has a smile on his face, even upon getting up from being smashed into the ground. Watching him at the end of the 04 season, with tears streaming down his face at the possible retirement then of The Bus, is forever ingrained in my brain.
I could write a book with something notable on EVERY member. Been a lifelong fan and will die a lifelong fan. My kids know this and tolerate their mom's obsession. I'll never forget when we were in the SB and had friends over for a party. I was lying on the floor screaming at the TV when I thought we were going to lose. My DD says to my friend (who doesn't understand football and is no longer a friend) "it's always like this on Sunday's......we're used to it".
Baseball: Hmmmm....Bronson Arroyo, of course!! I'm hoping for another concert weekend in New England during the off season! I also the entire Red Sox team (GagMe is the only one that is getting under my skin right now, but only because of his performance.....not one of Boston's better trades )
NASCAR: My favorite was Kenny Schrader, but he's not racing all of the time now, so I've chosen Carl Edwards as my new favorite (because he runs with Roush-Fenway racing, of course! )
Football, Basketball, Hockey, etc: I follow the Red Sox year round, so I really don't know much about too many of the players in these sports. DH mentions some of the Patriots, but I couldn't choose a favorite.
Football: Joe Montana - never has there been or will there be a better Quarterback. My mom was in labor with me in 1985 and would not go to the hospital until the Superbowl was over and she'd seen the locker room celebration lol all because Montana and the San Fran 49ers were playing... and won! Steve Young - Another amazing QB... also for the Niners Jerry Rice - No one plays football like this guy
Figure Skatingwe might be here a while) Scott Hamilton - 1984 Olympic Men's Champion, 4 time US Champion, 4 time World Champion, Cancer survivor. I fell in love with the sport because of him. I got to see him skate live for the first time when I was 3 (Disney On Ice!) and couldn't get enough of him. He's an inspiration in so many ways and a really cool cat! Kurt Browning - 4 time world champion, 3 time world pro champion, 3 time olympic team member, best skater ever. No one skates like Kurt, he can do all styles well. He's a great showman, and a sweet person. I met him a couple of years ago and not only did he meet every expectation he went so far above. It's rare you meet and idol and they're everything and more. Kristi Yamaguchi - 1992 Olympic Ladies Champion. She's just the bomb, ok! I wanted to be her when I was little. Melissa Gregory & Denis Petukhov - 4 time US Ice Dance Silver Medalists. I worked on their official website before I saw their skating, but over the years I've really fallen in love with their skating, and consider them my friends (which is why I am going to the US nationals this year in Jan. lol)
ok I gotta get going so I guess you're saved from a really long list lol
Baseball: I liked Jason Varitek Pre Captain days. He is awesome. A hard worker, well respected by pitchers around the league. Also, LOVE Josh Beckett... he is just awesome. I'll leave it at that.
Football: I love Tedy Bruschi because he is not only one of the vets of the Patriots, but also a family man. Do I have to mention that he came back from a stroke? WOW! And, despite my initial reluctance to accept Randy Moss, I have grown a fondness for him recently. Must be the 6-0 start.
Hockey: I am not so thrilled with our Boston Bruins lately. Jeremy Jacobs is a poor excuse for an owner. I loved Joe Thornton. He was a Bruin through and through, old time hockey! I have to admit, I've fallen off that bandwagon since the lockout but I hope to climb back on this season.
Basketball: I know I am a homer, so I have to go with the Celtics. I follow them through my son's Godfather who is a reporter for the team. I do like Paul Pierce, he has been carrying this team on his shoulders for the last several years. And, now, the guy has a grin from ear to ear with the addition of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen!
WOW! It's a great time to live in New England! When we are crying in our beer, we'll look fondly on these days. Of course, no crying for the rest of Baseball and Football seasons I hope!
Baseball- my favorites are Jorge Posada and Derek Jeter. They are both real people and not all about the money.
Football- my favorite is Teddy Bruschi. As Nikki already mentioned he is a real family man and he has come back from his stoke better then ever.
Racing- my favorite is Sterling Marlin. He is older and doesn't evey win anymore, but my son and I had a chance to meet him and he was a very nice man.
Ummmm, ladies? Is no one going to mention David Beckham? And does it even matter whether or not you know what sport he plays?
Wellllll . . . I do love me some Becks. And not just because he is nice to look at either! When he isn't hurt like he has been constantly lately, he is a really great soccer/football/futbol player!
I didn't even think about him when I posted my favorites earlier.
