As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Well, I've been reading this section of the boards for about 3 hours! I've read ride descriptions but can't decide about rides that have motion sickness possibilities. I typically can't do motion simulators. I can usually make it through star tours by not always looking at the screen, I can do Soarin', I can do BTM once without getting too queasy, Expedition Everest made me pretty sick feeling. I did RnR and was really good-surprise to me, space mt. leaves me queasy...So, I suppose spiderman is out of the question and is jimmy neutron? What about Mummy? Any rides I'm missing? (I won't even think about dr. doom, storm or hulk! )
Jimmy Neutron has seats that don't move (you had to sit there with smaller children). I think you'd be okay if you were in the non-motion riding seat there
Jimmy Neutron, Terminator and Shrek have stationary seats. So you should be able to do them. There's about 1 second in the Twister attraction where the set moves. Nah, it's probably not even 1 second. You may want to think twice about Earthquake also. Most of the show is fine, but the actual "earthquake" lasts a few seconds. It shakes you around a bit. But it's really not awful.
The Mummy and Spiderman might cause some motion sickness. Spiderman is a 4D simulator and the track shakes you around. You dip and swerve and at one point "plunge" something like 10 (maybe more) stories. The Mummy has a short roller coaster portion to it and it goes backwards, although nowhere near as long as Expedition Everest does. The backwards portion of the Mummy probably lasts about 5 seconds.
You may have to avoid the Cat in the Hat also. The sofas twirl suddenly and unexpectedly throughout the ride. Men in Black also spins you unexpectedly. Great ride, but it might play havoc on you if you are really motion sensitive.

My DH gets motion sickness very easily. I think the main ride that does him in is MIB, Hulk, and Dueling Dragons. I don't think Spiderman bothers him, and he can do the Mummy at least once.
Hmm, now I'm confused, the last two responses are pretty different from each other. I guess everyone gets motion sickness from varying things, for varying reasons. Like I can't figure out how I can do Rock n Rollercoaster but not Big Thunder Mt.!
Here's a brief guide to what the rides do and what can aggravate motion sickness.
IOA:
If we ignore the roller coasters (since they are out for you anyway), here's the rest...
Storm Force Acceleratron: Similar to the Teacups Dr. Doom's Fearfall: Shoots you up and then you come down. It's not too bad and it's over before you know it Spider-Man: Spinning and a lot of rocking. It's like a motion simulator on wheels. Cat in the Hat: Lots of spinning! I heard more people get sick on this than any other ride. Jurassic Park River Adventure: Only bad part is the drop, but it's rather smooth Popeye and Bluto's Bildge Raft Barges: A really fast Kali River Rapids (fastest raft ride I've been on) Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls: Layout is similiar to Splash Mountain, except the last drop.
Over to USF... T2: 3D: Seats rise a few feet and then drop. Sit in the stationary seats if you must. Jimmy Neutron's Nicktoon Blast: Simulator ride (but the motion is pretty smooth). Sit in the stationary seats if necessary (the line is shorter here too!) Shrek 4-D: Seats will move. Sit in the stationary seats if need be. Twister: Floor will rise a bit and then drop. You can stand in the stationary area (it's the area with the concrete floor) Revenge of the Mummy; Roller coaster in the dark. You can do this if you can handle BTMRR or Expedition Everest. Earthquake: It'll bounce and rock you around. You can skip the ride part if you want (although that's the best part, IMHO). Men in Black: Alien Attack: The car will spin around a few times. If you oppose me, then your car will spin around a lot. Woody Woodpecker's Nuthouse Coaster: A kiddie coaster

Use some type of motion sicknes pill. I do and can go on the rides that I want to. It made a nice surprise to learn I can go on rides after all. DH is an RN and gave it to me after I got sick on the plane ride to WDW, said that I could enjoy the trip with our DD and go on rides with her too.

Time for the magic?
Let's plan another trip!!
Thanks, Barry, I've printed that list! Here's a few more questions...
Is the drop on Ripsaw Falls more intense than Splash? I love Splash Mt.!
Men in Black: Alien Attack: The car will spin around a few times. If you oppose me, then your car will spin around a lot. What do you mean?
One other question, my mom (in her early 70's) has done T.O.T. and likes it but doesn't really care for the rides like dinosaur that are so rough and shake you all about. She doesn't have motion issues. Would T2:3D be something she could ride. Also, are any of the rides you listed rough rides (like dinosaur) that we should pass on?
Thanks so much for all the help, everyone, I really appreciate it! I'm so excited to go I can hardly stand it!

We went on DCL a few years ago and before we left, I tired both bonine and dramamine (on different days ) and they made me feel yucky, like lightheaded and a little sick to my stomach. I decided it wasn't a whole lot better than actual motion sickness! I think maybe I'll try them again though, just to double check. I would LOVE to go on rides like this, just don't like feeling sick. A friend told me she used ginger capsules on the cruise and felt good, I think I'll put those on my list to buy and check out.
When I fly (and when we were on the cruise), I wore the motion bands for the wrist that are accupressure. I think they help, DH says it's all in my head. But, even if it is, it works! I suppose there's no reason I couldn't wear those all day (except that they would be warm to wear!).
