Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

Bad Mom award goes to...

As I mentioned in my previous post Jamie made his confirmation yesterday so our house was super hectic.. Brendan came home from school complaining that he hurt his thumb in gym class.

Well, I have to admit I was a horrible Mom & kinda poo-poo'ed it & told him it was probably just jammed. All evening he still complained, It was making a wierd clicking sound when he moved it that Jim didn't like.. Jim & I contemplated taking him to the ER last night but figured we would ice it & see if it looked bad this AM..

this morning it was pueple & HUGE.. WE debated going over to the ER ( knowing a several hour wait & $40 co-pay was ahead of us) or calling the Ortho doc to get an appointment, bypassing the middle man (ER) we called the ortho doc & they were able to see Brendan immediately ( it helps having a hubby that WORKS on the Ortho floor of the hospital) well, they took several X-rays & his thumb/hand isn't broken.. he has a bad bone bruise.. I usually do okay with kids being hurt but this is our first limb accident & I got sqeamish EVERY time he made the cracking sound.. It was so bad I wouldn't go in the doctors office, I sat in the waiting room.. Jim & Bren passed the time taking pics of Bren's x-rays with their cell phones..

Brendan is now sporting a spiffy brace & no gym for 2 weeks at school.

so, have you ever broken a bone?

broken tons of bones. Mine were always real breaks - DD Kathryn is the only kid to break bones, and some of hers are oddball ones (green-stick). She's broken both legs (the 2nd about a month after she got the cast off from the first one), both arms, her nose, a tooth (skate board accident), an ankle, a wrist, and a couple of fingers and toes. All of those were within 18 months of each other. I kept telling our Pediatrician that the hospital was going to put a questionable child abuser sticker on her chart!

I have had a broken thumb from a skating accident and an impacted radial head fracture (at the elbow - picture an icecream cone collapsing on itself) from walking on ice in cute boots instead of sensible shoes. The arm fracture was 6 weeks after having DD11 and I was on my way back to work and wanted to look good. Oh well.

DH has had a fractured clavicle (collar bone) from a four-wheeler accident when a teen.

That is it for us....hopefully no more.

I am glad that Brendan's injury was not worse. I worked in Ortho for 12 years and saw a lot.

for quick thumb healing!

I once broke my wrist in a skating incident. Today I started sobbing in the shower because I felt so sorry for Henway--that he has to have me for a mother.

Brendan looks like he's going to survive his "bad mom" experience.

Broken wrist, jammed thumb, dislocated patella. All on the left side of my body!
So when it gets cold or rainy, only half of me aches!

Now one had to keep in mind I am a world class klutz.

On my right foot I have broken all the smaller toes at least 4 times each. One time I broke three of them at the same time when I ran over my bedpost while dressed as a cat for Halloween and had to go to the ER dressed that way. On my left I have only broken 3 smaller toes a couple of times each. Dislocated the patella on the right twice. Sprained both ankles so many time I lost count. And last but certainly not least I have had 6 concussions.

I am the queen of walking into walls

I broke my arm when I was 2 years old. My Mom said it took her, my Dad, and a nurse to hold me still while they tried to set it. Sure glad I don't remember!!!

I hope Brendan's thumb doesn't hurt him too much!

I'm more of a sprainer than a breaker - I have sprained my ankles so many times that we bought a pair of crutches rather than having to keep paying the rental fees on them every time I sprained an ankle. I did break my tailbone when Drew was born because he was such a monster-sized baby. And of course, many people here know about my broken foot a year ago that the Dr wouldn't treat properly and it ended up dislocating the bone. I am still seeing a chiropractor who has to adjust my foot back into place monthly because the ligaments stretched so bad during that whole ridiculous medical ordeal.

Breaking bones is almost second nature to me. I am a Klutz at times. I have had many broken toes and fingers. I have broken my wrist four times, I broke my ankle (and I have dislocated it also)....I could go on, but you get the picture. I have done really well for the past few years though (knock on wood).

Break-free until my 40's!!

I broke my foot stepping backwards off the curb funny while mowing the lawn.

I broke my tailbone riding in a truck on an extremely bumpy road. That one took over two years to heal enough for me to sit without a donut pillow.

Oops. I forgot- I broke a toe breaking up a fight in college but no cast or setting or anything. Just pain.

I've broken the baby toe on my right foot three times, my nose twice, my pinky finger once and I broke my right ankle when Molly (age 3) was 5 weeks old. I was running through the schoolyard with Shannon because it was so cold and I stepped on a rock and rolled over on my ankle. The best part was it was 7 days before Christmas and I wasn't done shopping because I was having a hard time going out since I had such a young baby. I had to finish my shopping in a wheelchair borrowed from the various malls and stores we went to because it hurt too much to walk on the crutches all over the mall!!
