'Scuse Me; High Five!; Two Moms - August Weekend TR - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

'Scuse Me; High Five!; Two Moms - August Weekend TR
I briefly touched on this trip within my September PTR, (this post is where I actually announce it) but here are some introductions as I didn't really do those at all
Introductions:
Chryselle: My BFF/The Real Mom
Keegan: The oldest son/Captain America Look Alike
Jacob: The youngest son/Goofball!
Melissa (Me): The BFF/Second Mom
**pictures to come in TR, I promise **
When:
For Chryselle and the boys, it was Thursday, August 20th to Friday, August 28th. They left Upstate New York early on the 20th and drove straight through to Disney, arriving Friday, August 21st. Why? A full Disney vacation to celebrate being a family of 3 again
For me, it was Friday, August 21st to Sunday, August 23rd. Why? A weekend vacation to spend some time with my BFF and two favorite little men in our Happy Place for the first time! This was also a true test to see how the 4 of us fare in Disney together

She's not the star of our TR, and she only makes appearances at the beginning and end of our stories this year. She's been reincarnated to a new name... I give you...
ALICE!
Formerly known as Sally, Alice was born because I just plain-old didn't like Sally She kept turning on the check engine light and things started breaking. No bueno for a car that I just got in May
What better way to try to love a new-used car than to theme it after a Disney movie? Alice has been very good to me since I renamed her. She's much happier as a Disney character than she was as a race car name
Dotting the I’s and Making the Drive…
Friday, August 21st
Every day at work, I print out what ads are scheduled to run on that day. Every Friday, I fashion my “I” with a little Mickey head. Today, that meant something. Today, that meant I was leaving early to go to Disney!
I had worked extra, earlier in the week, to be able to get out a little early this Friday; and not have to use any of my PTO time. I booked it out of work at 2:30, promptly.
Even though the car was already packed and ready to go, I had to make a quick stop at home to say goodbye to my boys. Joshua doesn’t work on Fridays so he was home with the pup. I excitedly announced “No time to waste! Hello! Goodbye!” even though I wasn’t late; hopped back into Alice and we were heading down the street at 3pm sharp!
I decided to take a new route to Disney today through the middle of the state. This could be good, or it could be really bad! I normally take I-75 North to I-4; a very direct, main road route to get there. However, after living in Florida for a couple years, I found that I detest I-75 and people drive like crazies on there! Apparently most say that this goes for I-4 as well but the speed limit is higher on I-75 so I loathe it just a bit more
Joshua warned me that this new route was no good, and that the directions would take me through lots of small towns with very slow speed limits; I had to try it anyway. Was he right? Yes. But it also took me past fields of cows and beautiful scenery that you don’t get on major highways. It reminded me of New York, and made me happy. It rained a couple times on my trip, but never for long, and not harsh at all.
I pulled into Pop at 6:10pm. It took the same amount of time as the major highways! Not to mention, it felt a lot faster because I was more relaxed on this drive!
I had no trouble at the gate as I had worried about earlier, as the gentleman only asked for my ID and then gave me directions to the 50s section. I pulled into a space and waited for Chryselle and the boys to arrive. They had spent the day at Typhoon Lagoon, and then went to the Outlets to check out the Disney merchandise.
Here are some photos from their day:
Keegan, Chryselle, and Jacob
As soon as they arrived I jumped with joy and we all had our hellos! The boys helped me carry my small amount of bags up to the room, where we dropped them by the door and started our mission for the Front Desk.
Correction: After we dropped the bags, I was presented with a gift! A whole set of Mickey Antenna toppers themed after holidays and seasons!!! I had always wanted a Mickey Antenna collection, but my Subaru didn’t have an antenna! Luckily, Alice does, and she is now fashioning the Halloween candy basket topper.
Back to the Front Desk…
I had worries that they wouldn’t let me stay at the resort, or give me a parking pass so that my car wouldn’t be towed away, but I didn’t need to worry – this is Disney after all! I was allowed to be checked in as a guest for the weekend, and given a parking pass for the length of Chryselle’s reservation. I was even given my own keycard for the room! Chryselle asked about putting the key on my band, but they couldn’t do that because I wasn’t actually on the reservation. I didn’t mind! I was very pleased with all that I had already received!!
We turned towards the busses to go to DTD (not Disney Springs yet!) but then realized that Chryselle had forgotten my voucher for DisneyQuest in the room. We ran up to the room to look for it, but she couldn’t find it at the moment. They had just arrived at the resort that morning after driving straight through from NY, so I’m sure she was feeling a bit delirious at this point!
The car wasn’t far away, so we went out to look for it there. Meanwhile, apparently the boys were getting themselves into a bit of trouble! They were trying to climb the bottom of the Lady statue. More like succeeded and then a lifeguard told them “Great job guys! Now get down.” They were so excited to tell us about it, because apparently the guy thought they were so cool for doing it, but had to be responsible and tell them to get down.
The voucher wasn’t in the car either! Feeling even more spacy now, Chryselle sent the boys up to the room to look, where they immediately found it in an envelope that Chryselle had already looked in Oh well! It was a good adventure and we hadn’t even left the resort yet!!
The four of us left the 50s section, back towards the main building to get on that bus and go to DTD…

I know that I have disappeared for a while, and I have tons of PTRs and TRs to catch up on, but work has just been crazy for quite some time, and isn't going to slow down anytime soon. I'm just making my priority on here to get through my TRs -- then when things slow down again, I'll go back and read all the wonderfulness that you guys have been experiencing
Other quick life updates... So you know where I have been
Chryselle came to Florida for her first visit at the beginning of November. It was a fantastic time, and we even spent a day at Universal Studios. I can't wait for her to come down and visit again!!
We have had a few unfortunate weeks and have lost some people from our families within a short period of time. The two biggest for us were my Great Uncle, and Joshua's Dad. We've been trying to get through the sadness the best we can.
We are traveling to New York for Christmas ; we start driving this Friday night. We will be making a stop in TN to visit with my cousin for a little bit, then continue all the way to Upstate NY. I have been looking forward to being with my family after losing my Uncle, and can't wait to give everyone hugs . I'm hoping that the closeness of my family will help Joshua get through this holiday season.
A tiny bit of good news, if you remember my mom dropped her phone in the toilet and she had to get a new one. I thought that the photos she took from our trip were gone, but she had uploaded them to her Google Drive before the incident! Once I finish this TR, I can't wait to share that one with you!
On with the show!! Sorry for lack of photos on this next post.
