Mom's 1st visit to Mickey at WDW (12/2/10 - 12/12/10) - UPDATED 12/2 - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I noticed some other PTR reports for next year so I figured it was ok to start mine. I didn't see yours so I will make a point to look for it!

That will be coming up. We are still waiting for the park dates to post for December so we can make some semi-solid plans (they will probably change) I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas!
I guess the best way to tell everyone here how we decided to visit WDW is to start from the beginning. First off I am the only one that has been there before when I was 16 and a junior in high school. Well I loved Disney World! I always enjoyed going to DL and WDW just made me love Disney even more. That was my only trip to WDW and it wasn’t enough so at some point I knew I would be going back.
Fast forward many years from high school to about 2 years ago. Well at that point I was planning a trip to go with my girlfriend and we had almost everything planned and ready to go when something came up and we had to cancel. 6 months ago things didn’t work out and we decided to break up. I didn’t have any hard feelings about it but, I realized that I was single and now could book a trip to WDW and as a bonus I only have to pay for my own trip woohoo!!!
I don’t remember exactly when I decided on going but, my first plan was to visit WDW in late September. With so many things going on such as the Food and Wine Festival , MNSSHP and my birthday to celebrate I knew that it would be a great time for me to visit. Well with that my plan was forming! I realized that my mom has never been to WDW (the only time she has left the state was to go to Phoenix in Summer!) and this would be the perfect time for her to take her first real vacation outside of Hawaii.
Well I told her I was going to WDW and asked if she would like to come with me. Well she said yes and we started to look up information for our trip and it started. Well we had some discussion about our trip and somehow she convinced me to have the dates changed from going in late September to the first week of December. She hijacked my trip! Haha well not really; I wanted to visit during the holidays also but, I just like to tease her about it.
After a while into planning I was thinking that it would be nice if my Uncle who lives in Colorado would come with us also. He was very close to our family when he lived in Hawaii and used to go out with us almost everywhere. The last time we saw him was when he visited for my brother’s wedding and I figured we were overdue to see him again. Well my mom was thinking the same thing and told me she invited him to accompany us during our trip. Well with that change we have our cast and dates for WDW.
Well right now I am at home and I have some type of cold as I was running a fever last night. I really can’t do much but, I can watch Ratatouille and inform everyone of my cast! There are benefits to staying home (today is my day off anyway). Well anyway here is our cast for our trip
Kaniala (Myself) – I am 26 (will be 27 while at WDW) and I have been to DL several times and WDW once before. I have gone with different people and my first trip to DL was when I was about 6. I loved each trip and the thing I love most about both DL and WDW is the themes that Disney incorporates to each land and ride. I personally believe that is a huge part of the magic that Disney is known for. Obviously my favorite Disney character would be Stitch and hey I live in Hawaii so it just makes him all the more special to me
Jennifer (Mom) – Well my mom is 48, one of the greatest mom's , and is looking forward to her first trip to WDW. The only time she has left the state previously was to go to Arizona when my brother was planning to move to there for school. Well after I decided I would be taking a trip to WDW I asked her if she would like to come with me. She said yes and another was added to the trip. She says when she was younger she related to Cinderella. Now her favorite character is Tigger but, she is still waiting for her Prince Charming
Dominic (Uncle) – My uncle is 39 and will be meeting us at WDW from Colorado. This would be his first trip as well. He has moved to Colorado about 8 years ago but, before the move was very close to our family growing up. My uncle would go with us to the movies, beach, and basically just spend time with the family. He made a few trips back to Hawaii for the bigger occasions such as my cousin’s wedding, and my brother’s graduation and wedding . It is going to be great to see him and spend a week in WDW. His favorite characters are either Jack or Zero from Nightmare before Christmas.
