Yes, CLQ-1, there is a Santa Claus - Updated 1/13 COMPLETE!! - PassPorter - A Community of Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruise Line, and General Travel Forums
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Yes, CLQ-1, there is a Santa Claus - Updated 1/13 COMPLETE!!
This pre-trip report could actually be entitled "Blame it on Bob and Larry," but as I've already written one of those, I had to come up with another title! It all started back in the summer when Larry sent me this very innocent PM asking if any of the CLQ were planning on attending MouseFest. Well . . . since I had never been and I was itching to see those gals again after our fabu June trip, I sent off a PM to them myself just asking.
Turns out, Sharon was already going (as if that surprises any of us??? ), but Eileen and Karen had no plans (to which they readily admitted ). The PM's started flying fast and furious the weekend that I was in Wisconsin. I couldn't take another day being away from the boards, so I snagged Thom's laptop on a Saturday afternoon and was tickled pink when I saw a mailbox full of PM's.
We batted resorts back and forth, but finally decided on AKL concierge. Karen booked this for us, but within a couple of weeks, the discount rates at BC came available so Sharon had her fine TA, Keri, book us a room right in the middle of the action. At first, they put four of us in a 1-bedroom suite (now wouldn't the four of us have been precious in one king size bed ???), but Keri soon rectified the situation for a standard double. We were able to keep our club level room which you know is crucial for some member of our party (I'm talking about you, Eileen ).
The months went by and our plans finally began to take shape. Lots of PP meets and MouseFest eventsbut I have to admit that I didn't pay a lot of attention to some of our plans because I knew that the one and only creator and owner of the BA$$ had it under control.
Then the unthinkable happened a couple of weeks ago and Karen broke her ankle. We had it all worked out how we could get her around, but her doctor had the final say and put the icksnay on her trip. I know that we've all cried tears over not seeing our buddy, but we plan to raise many a to her and do a little drunk dialing too. Eileen, Sharon and I do feel a little out of sorts without Karen and her BA$$, so if you see us wandering aimlessly just point us in the direction of the Italian margarita kiosk.
Thom has been so supportive of me going on this trip because he him some CLT, but I simply could not tell the girls that I was going to Disney without them. I hadn't even mentioned that I was going anywhere until last night when we were at Target and I picked up a new cosmetic bag. Mary Devall asked me why I needed it (um . . . thanks shopping police ) and I said that it was for my trip. When she asked me where I was going, I just mumbled "Going to see Ms. Eileen." She said okay and just dropped it.
When Mary Devall got home tonight, she saw me and said "Oh, I thought you had already left to go to Charleston." Even I was confused at this point. Thom later said "Mary Devall said something about you going to Charleston." Apparently Mary Devall has convinced herself that Ms. Eileen lives in Charleston. Works for me!
When I kissed them goodbye tonight and told them that I was leaving early in the morning, they both said that they wanted to come with me. I simply cannot imagine the tears if they knew where I was actually meeting Ms. Eileen. I'll probably just wait until they're teenagers to tell them.
So here I am . . . writing my shortest pre-trip report ever because I haven't even packed yet! Guess that means I need to get going.
So . . . Eileen and Sharon, I simply cannot wait to see your smiling faces again. To the new PP's that I have yet to met and the ones I have met before, I'll be seeing you soon!
And finally to Karen . . . we'll miss, we love, but we won't forget who was supposed to be with us.

I was just being sneaky -- I'd actually been determinedly considering Sharon's offer of a roomie for Mousefest. I was just wanting y'all to think it was YOUR idea.

That was a fun weekend! If your cell phone had been working better, we'd have filled that inbox too!

Seriously... seriously out of sorts. I only just put together a chart I use when I'm "steering the boat" with my family at Disney. I cribbed all the info from the Big @$$ spreadsheet, but... I guess I needed it in my own format to have it make sense for me.

B.A.W.L.I.N.G. ---- I'm simply bawling!
Eileen
PS - Jill, keep your fingers crossed that I make the standby flight. If it works out, I'll be getting in to MCO at around the same time you are.
Let the texts FLY! (The blog will be actively updated starting at 4AM Thursday!)

Hee . . .Hee . . I had my suspicions!

Less than 2 hours. Maybe she remembered that you lived near a historical city, but just didn't remember which one.

Fingers crossed! I have to fly through Atlanta so you might just beat me!
I am sure you you girls will have a wonderful time!
I am sorry that Karen broke her ankle and cannot go!
Feel better soon Karen!
Can't wait for the live updates!
We arrived at MCO 5:30 PM instead of 11:30 AM due to weather chaos in ATL. We actually flew from Huntsville to ATL but did not land and were ordered back to HSV. The plane developed a problem with a de-icer, so we were rebooked through National in Washington, and then to Orlando. Missed out on our meal at Flying Fish Cafe'. We flew about 2200 miles for a 660 mile trip. But we are here and cannot wait to see the CLQ-1!
