As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

We've collected a number of questions about the Disney Dream, so we've made a list here. Feel free to post a reply to this thread if you have a question that isn't on this list (but please post ONLY if you have a new question to add, so that we don't have to go through too many posts to find the questions).
Basic:
What is the feel of the ship? Does it feel a lot larger/more crowded? It does feel larger, definitely, but not vastly larger. It was not crowded on the Christening Cruise, but the ship was full. There were definitely more people on the Maiden Voyage, and yet it still was not full. The only lines I encountered on the Maiden Voyage were reasonably short lines for the AquaDuck (less than 20 minutes) and the usual lines to get into the dining rooms at the start of the meal.
Disney Dream Staterooms:
Are stateroom doors metal (magnetic)? Yes, BUT the concierge suite doors on deck 11 are NOT magnetic.
What is the width of the doorway to a regular stateroom? 27 inches wide
How does the card key work to turn on lights/TV in the room? You just slide it into the slot

Can you use something other than a Key to the World card? Yes! We tried both a hotel card and a library card, and both worked.
Do the staterooms really have refrigerators, or just little cooling boxes like on the other ships? Cooling boxes (photo). Here is a photo of the cooler's specifications.
Are there steamer trunks in the staterooms? No.
Is there a hair dryer? Yes. Is it better than the ones on the Magic/Wonder? Yes! Works as well as my regular hair dryer at home. Here's a photo of the hair dryer's specifications (it's 50Hz)
How much of a difference the 2%-3% reduction in cabin size really make? I honestly couldn't tell. The stateroom felt the same as on the Magic/Wonder. Even Alexander, who is now larger than the last time we cruised and everything should seem a little smaller, said to me, "Are you sure this is the new ship, mom? It looks the same inside." when we were standing in the stateroom for the first time.
What are the video portholes like? They're very much like the Disney-supplied photos. The image is very bright and clear (high-def cameras). If you didn't know you were looking at a video screen, you might be fooled into thinking it's a regular window. I didn't see any of the animated "visitors" while I was touring the inside stateroom. I will spending four days in an inside room in February. I'm sure I'll have more to report then. Update: The video portholes show animation every 30-60 minutes, and are usually preceded by some pixie dust on the screen. There are about 20 reported animations. The porthole does not show anything at night but "snow" (static). You can turn off the video porthole whenever you wish.
What is the round tub in the family staterooms like? Can an adult fit in it? The tub itself is about 3.5' in diameter, but there's also a generously-sized sitting area on one side of the tub, inside of the shower enclosure. Short of Shrek-sized individuals, it seems like it'll be quite comfy. Update: I (Jennifer) had no problems bathing or showering in the tub. In fact, I far preferred it over the standard Disney Cruise tubs. I loved the rain shower head, too. Here is a video showing the shower heads and the tub:
What do the connecting verandahs look like when the divider is taken down?See the verandah video below, taken from stateroom 7022. The partition is not totally removed, it has a door that opens up by the railing. This makes it a very simple thing to open or close, as needed.
What are the dimensions of the safe? 12" wide by 6" tall by 14.5" deep.
Is the sofa bed comfortable for sleeping? Yes. When I first laid down on it, the mattress felt a little too stiff -- and that's saying something as I'm the person who is fine on a futon. But I was very tired and no doubt had stiff muscles. After a few minutes, I relaxed and I fell right to sleep. When I woke, I felt good. So I give it a thumbs up. The mattress is 72 in. long ( 6 ft.) x 34 in. wide x 5.5 in. thick. (Photo)
What is the iPod player like? Simple. My iPhone fit in it, but it would NOT work initially. It wasn't until my second cruise (on the Maiden Voyage) that I figured out how to make both an iPhone and an iPod play music. (photo). What does the air conditioning thermostat look like? Thermostat photo. Does it work better? Worked fine for me when I needed to cool off the room. On my second cruise, I kept it turned up high most of the time and the room was always very cool. No issues.
Are the ceilings lower than on the Magic/Wonder? It didn't seem like it to me.
Are there still split bathrooms, and if so, are they the same size or are they a little larger or smaller than the Magic/Wonder bathrooms? Yes, and they seemed to be at least the same size, if not a bit larger. It may have only seemed larger because I think they are using the space better. Where can you place the table when you use the sofa bed? Do you have to put it in front of the balcony doors? The beds do not pull out instead they flip into a bed. It is a single twin-size bed so it takes up no additional space. No need to move the table. I used it as a nightstand.
What do the family oceanview staterooms look like (i.e., more photos)? They look FABULOUS, darling! But seriously, I totally loved my family stateroom for the Maiden Voyage cruise. The big porthole, extra space, and round tub were very nice upgrades to the standard stateroom. Do category 6 staterooms REALLY have the White Wall verandas? The white portion of the walls is no more than two feet high, with clear wall above that up to the railing. So no, they do not have a white wall.
Are there any secret porthole rooms like on the Magic/Wonder? No.
What do the laundry rooms look like, and where are they? Cost to operate? Can you still bring/add your own soap? See video below for a tour of a laundry room. Laundry rooms are located at 2002, 5190, 6508, 7014,8143, 9500, and 10572. Cost is $1 for the washer, $1 for the dryer (it's cashless -- you use your Key to the World card). How many beds are in the deluxe family oceanview staterooms? 4-5. You will not be placed in a stateroom that will not accommodate your party size. See my photo montage video of my family oceanview stateroom on the Maiden Voyage linked above.
What about life jackets for extra large fluffy people?? Do you have to request this? I am not small and the lifejacket fit me fine. Plenty of extra room in the strap.
Could you get us a picture/video of the round shower/tub? Will a grown woman be able to shave her legs in the round shower/tub? Pictures and video are linked above. Yes, a grown woman can bathe, shower, and shave her legs without a problem -- I did all three! I loved the round tub.
Will stateroom 7022 be recategorized due to the partially blocked verandah? I doubt it. I actually liked the obstruction -- cut down on wind and mist.
Is there a website that I can go to to find the location of the category stateroom, locations so we know which deck we would want to go to in order to be sort of mid-ship (we know which decks are low to high on ship so that part is easy, just need to know which categories are which on the decks themselves). The official Disney Cruise Line web site at http://www.disneycruise.com has an interactive deck plan. You can type in your stateroom number and it will zoom right to it, or you can examine the deck plan room by room, deck by deck.
What is the layout of the aft deck 7 staterooms, their verandahs, and the surrounding areas? Stay tuned -- I took a video, just need to upload it.
Do the cat. 9A staterooms (i.e. 7504 in the corner fwd) have a full picture window or a large porthole? It's a deep porthole. I was able to see stateroom 8504, and I believe 7504 is pretty much the same. Here are photos of 8504:

What do the concierge staterooms, lounge, and sundeck look like?Stay tuned, we have lots of photos! In short, though, they look wonderful! Maybe even more elegant than the suites on the Magic and Wonder.
What offerings are available to guests in the concierge lounge?
How is stateroom 8002 situated? Is it conveniently located?
What is brand of mattress is in the staterooms?
Can you get sushi, Mickey Bars, Mickey Rice Treats, and/or popcorn from room service? Of those four items, only popcorn is listed on the room service menu and, like other movie-style snack items, costs extra. Sushi is found only (so far) at Cabanas as lunchtime, and only on days 2 and beyond (not during the Welcome Aboard lunch). Mickey Bars should be available by request, as always. The room service menu is identical to the menu for the Magic/Wonder.
What is available from room service, and can I see an entire list? Here is the room service menu.
Does the Dream have Beer/Wine/Tequila tastings, and if so, what the details? Did not have listed on the Navigator (that we saw).
Will there be more then one drink station? If so, where are they located? Two drink stations, deck 11 midship, on either side of the Mickey Pool. Here is a link to our video showing the beverage stations.
What the drink choices at the drink stations? Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite, Sprite Zero, Hi-C Pink Lemonade, Nestea (iced tea), coffee (regular and decaf), water (hot and cold), tea, and milk.
Do they sell popcorn when they do movies on deck? I watched a movie on deck and walked around to look for a vendor, but none was available at that time.
Do they serve/sell Plum Wine?? I couldn't find it, and it wasn't in the duty-free shop either.
Is there a porthole where you can watch the cooks in the kitchen, like the on the Magic/Wonder? I could not find one.
Where are late night snacks going to be held and what do the serve? They had a nice snack buffet in The District, right near The District bar. If you're familiar with the snacks they have at Diversions on the Magic and Wonder, it was similar, but larger and with a better selection. I can't say that's the only place late night snacks can be found, but it was a short cruise. -dm
Was Remy worth the $75 per person charge? Oh yes.
Does the addition of Remy free up a lot of space for Palo? Or because the Dream has a lot more people does it just even it out? Palo has 138 seats on the Magic and Wonder, 152 seats on the Dream. Remy has 96 seats. So... If they had simply added 50% more seats than the Magic/Wonder (the new ships can carry 50% more guests), there would be 207 seats on the Dream between Palo and Remy. There are 248, which suggests DCL decided that 50% more seats wasn't good enough. As to "freeing up" space in Palo, it seems not. Palo on the Dream is not 50% larger. They may have figured that Remy would reduce interest in Palo, or maybe they're just making sure that Remy will be filled if folks can't get into Palo -dm
Will the Enchanted Garden only have the "show" in the evenings? Or will we be able to see it change during the day time too? Only at dinner, and it's not much of a show as just a slow ambient change.
What are the quick-service foods like? Where are they located? They're very much like the foods available on the Magic and Wonder. It's just that, instead of spreading them around, the pizza, burger & dog, and sandwich & wrap places are all next to each other, in an area called Flo's Cafe. That said, the variety of sandwiches and wraps seems greater (as I noted in my dining article, I loved the warm bacon and brie panini). It's located on deck 11 on the port side, similar to the location of the beverage stations on the Magic and Wonder - right next to the entrance to Cabanas (the buffet). The ice cream and smoothies are in the same basic location over on the starboard side, very much like the location of the ice cream on the Magic and Wonder. Note that, while they're side-by-side, Eye Scream is the no-extra-charge soft serve (oh, their caramel sauce is home made and to die for), Frozone Treats (smoothies) are all extra-charge items. Quality wise? It's all at least as good as on the older ships, but I haven't have the chance to sample a lot, yet. -dm
Is there an ice cream station? Yes. Any Dole Whips? No.
Do they offer "Dine and Play" for kids at the late dinner seating? Yes, late seating only.
Is there an egg-free cake available, or can one be made?
Can specialty cakes be made to order?
What does Vibe (teen club) look like? Awesome! Wish I was a teen so I could hang there. Here's our video of Vibe.
What do Oceaneer Club and Lab (kids club) look like? Bigger and better. Video to come soon!
When is the AquaDuck open and what are the average wait times? What is the best time to avoid long waits? Can we do it as soon as we board on embarkation day? Will the Aqua Duck be open while the ship is in port, or only at sea? Is there a weight limit for the AquaDuck? No. Are you allowed to take a waterproof camera? Is it worth waiting in line for? Can kids shorter than 48in ride aquaduck with an adult? No, they would not have let Alexander go unless he was at least 48 inches tall. They measured him at the bottom and the top, and at the top they gave him a blue wristband so he wouldn't have to be measured again to ride. And now you must be at least 54" tall to ride solo, but still 48" tall to ride with a partner.
What are the Chill Spa (Spa for Teens) services, prices, and age limits? Are they strict on the age limits? Does the Chill Spa open up any times/treatments for other kids, say age 12, on days such as Nassau?? Will it have any treatments geared towards teen boys? Photos and prices are in our Chill Spa video. They do appear to be very strict on age limits.
What does the adult pool like and feel like? A bit on the small side, but very classy. Video to come!
How does the adult pool compare to the one on the Magic/Wonder? Is it smaller? Yes, but the swim-up bar and seating area makes it an improvement. No adults really "swim" in it, just hang in it, at least on my cruise.
Are there enough loungers by the pools, or are they all occupied? There were plenty of loungers on my two cruisers, even on the at-sea day. The loungers nearest the pool were occupied, of course, but I saw many unoccupied loungers nearby. We'll have to see how busy they get on a full cruise.
Are there any special tours of the ship or kitchen, and if so, how do you sign up for it? I was offered a kitchen tour as a Platinum Castaway Club member, but I didn't take them up on it. The offer was printed on a sheet of paper left in my stateroom, and to sign up for it, I had to contact Guest Services.
What is the Pirates deck party like? Is anything different? The earlier show seemed more kid-friendly. Buccaneer Blast Fireworks were awesome. The Club Pirate Dance party was well done. See our video of the fireworks and dance party.
What do the nightclubs on the Disney Dream look like? [b]Glitzy and sophisticated.
Are the adult areas quiet? Not as quiet as I expected. There's still a lot of ambient noise -- music, low-level conversations, the general hum of the ship. But there aren't hordes of kids running in them either.
Where are the hot tubs? Beside the Quiet Cove adult pool and the Donald family pool. There are also hot tubs in Vibe (teens only), Senses Salon (requires a Rainforest Room pass), and the Royal Suites.
What activities/games are offered at Goofy's Sports Deck? Mini-golf, a Golf Simulator, Ping-Pong, basketball -- here's a video:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoLkgLT2irA
What are the hours of mini-golf? It was open at night on the Christening Cruise and on the Maiden Voyage cruise. It doesn't seem to close, but, there was no nighttime lighting.
Is sports equipment left out to use? The mini-golf and Ping-Pong equipment was out, but I couldn't find basketballs.
What is the show lineup? Are assigned show times strictly enforced? Which show is best? Shows are Villains Tonight, Golden Mickeys, and Believe. Showtimes are NOT strictly enforced -- I went to a variety of showtimes. I would rate them in this order: Believe, Golden Mickeys, Villains Tonight.
What characters are onboard for meet and greets? Yes!
What is available for an almost 4 year old boy to do aboard the Dream? Oceaneer Club/Lab, Midship Detective Agency, movies, characters, SWIMMING, Nemo's Reef, watching on-demand movies in the stateroom, ICE CREAM!
What are typical hours of the It's A Small World Nursery? What are the charges? How busy does it get? Are advance reservations really necessary? What type of activities are in there?
Do you know what the entertainment or show schedule is for the 3- & 4-night cruises? When is Pirate Night? Which nights are casual, sem-formal, and/or formal nights? Night 1: Variety Show; Night 2: Pirate Night and Villains Tonight Show; Night 3: Golden Mickeys; Night 4: Believe.
Is there a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on board the Dream? If so, what is the cost and are they the same packages (ie: hair, makeup, and nails) as in WDW? No.
In the Edge tween club, do the computers have Internet access? Is there a cost associated with the use of these computers? No, the computers do not have Internet access, and thus there is no cost associated with using them (they have games like Plants vs. Zombies and a special Intranet social media app.
Disney Dream Miscellaneous:
Are any "secret" parts of the Disney Dream deck open to guests? I was able to find cool places, but not places I'd call "secret."
Are there any special "Disney Dream" goodies in the gift shop? Yes, lots. Clothing, hats, bags, ornaments, collectibles. No shortage of merchandise.
Are there any Disney Dream scrapbooking items in the shops? Yes, I saw some -- check the Sea Treasures shop walkthough video, as I tried to get a shot of those.
Are any "new" Disney characters on the ship? It seemed to be the same line-up as the other ships.
What are the best times for shorter lines to meet the characters? When the majority of folks are doing other things, like eating or in shows.
How well do the new Wave phones work? Are there any places on the ship where they do not work? Can I see pictures? They worked very well. I tried a number of spots onboard and on Castaway Cay, and encountered no issues.
Does the Wave phone fit in a PassHolder Pouch? Yes, surprisingly well. Fits in both the large velcro pocket as well as the small "FASTPASS" pocket on the back of the pouch, believe it or not. Check this video for a demonstration.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jZrVN9lMB8
Are the Wave phones Bluetooth enabled? Can we use our Bluetooth headsets from our personal phones with them? Unsure, sorry. I was unable to test this as I didn't have a bluetooth device with me.
Is the ship's horn different than the one on the Magic/Wonder?Very different. It has a total of at least 16 horns (the number of notes I've been able to identify so far), and it is programmed to play a wide variety of tunes. The Imagineer I talked to about this said details were "top secret," but apparently it has a piano-style keyboard, so someone with the skills could at least theoretically put on a concert. The Magic/Wonder each have 7 horns, and while capable of playing any tune using those 7 notes, they are only programmed to play one tune plus the normal safety signals.
What are the operating hours of It's a Small World Nursery, and the fees?
Will the duty-free shop sell rum cakes? No.
Can you enter/exit the terminal via skywalk to/from the new parking structure? The escalators are still under construction. It seems that you'll have to come down to the ground level from the skywalk in order to pass through security, then go back upstairs with everyone else.
Do you have to go through Adult Areas to access the Teen Spa? Yes, although it's fairly close to the lobby/front entrance of the spa. Teens would pass by just a couple of doorways.
Do they still have those fabulous showers in the spa? They have about six different kinds of shower now (I've got photos documenting them all). How are the gym facilities? Similar to the Magic/Wonder's, only much larger with far more equipment. The view through the windows is out the starboard side of the ship, rather than forward as it is on the other ships. Is the relaxation room at the spa available to anyone, or is it like the Rainforest Room where you need to buy a pass? It's intended for folks who have had spa treatments. It doesn't seem to be available to non-customers. What's in the relaxation room? It's an oval room with about 10 cream-colored, leather lounge chairs, each separated from the next by a gauze curtain. There's a small countertop area with complimentary hot tea and cold water with cucumbers or oranges.
What is the Rainforest Room like? How does it compare to the Magic/Wonder? It's larger, more loungers, now has hot tubs.
Can you buy that pretty red Disney pillow with Mickey embroidered in gold that you see in stateroom photos? I didn't see it anywhere in the shops, sorry. I suspect it will show up in the future, though.
Are any daily/Sunday newspapers available on the Disney Dream? No. I asked at the shops and they said they do not carry them.
Can we still drop off an item for the characters to sign at guest services? Yes, it seems so. I didn't try, but someone else I met did and I saw their autographed pillowcase.
How much are the photo packages? Did Photopass finally make it on board the ship? No. As before, photo services are provided by an outside contractor. Any video of Shutters? Here is a wobbly video of Shutters (sorry!), but it does show how to locate your photos in a folio, use the automated terminal to locate and order prints/CDs, package prices, and some of the photos/accessories available for purchase.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIw6crLIGSM

So, if the only outlet in the bathroom is for shavers, does that mean the only place to plug in the hair dryer is at the desk in that one "mystery outlet?" If that's the case, it seems a bit inconvenient to me. I much prefer drying my hair in the bathroom.

Do we have any photos yet of stateroom 7689 or whether the layout is that of a normal inside room? Its an inside room on the outside of the ship hence why I was curious about this one? That room wasn't on the tour DCL provided. I think we'll have to depend on photos/a report from someone who actually books one of the rooms with that layout. -dm

I heard that there was a way to preview your pictures in your stateroom. Is this true and if so how does this work? Yes, it's true, because I came into the stateroom on the second day, and there they were! I can't tell you whether Jennifer had to do anything to put them on, or whether DCL just used its "override" powers to put them on every stateroom TV on the ship. We'll just have to wait to hear more from Jennifer. -dm

Have you seen any information on the size of the extended verandas on deck 5, foreward and aft? I haven't seen any measurements, but we had a very good look at them from our deck 7 veranda. They seem to be about double the depth (about four extra feet of depth). The extended part isn't very helpful in a rain storm, since there's no overhang, but I probably wouldn't quibble over it. -dm

Is there a dedicated or best spot in the Dream bathrooms to hang rinsed out bathing suits, or one that looks most logical to you?The tubs have two pull-out/retractable clothes lines.
Is the concierge lounge accessed by use of your room key? Yes Can you get photos of the lounge? They didn't allow it - privacy of the guests and all that.
What about the private concierge sun deck? Is that also accessed via room key? Yes. What does that look like and are kids allowed up there? It's the central portion of the deck 13 forward sun deck. They use frosted glass partitions to separate it from the rest of the deck area. It's a basic sun deck, but with very nice, cushioned wicker loungers and other furniture. I'm sure (concierge) kids are allowed there. Disney is the network of Suite Life on Deck, after all. Seriously, the "public" areas of that deck 13 area are divided into family and adults-only areas, but I saw no signs suggesting the concierge deck was adults-only. I tried to take some photos through the glass. We'll see if that worked out.

Without the steamer trunks, is there enough storage space for clothes, undergarments, etc.? Hard to make this a factual assessment. Yes, I think there's enough. I'll know better, though, after a somewhat longer cruise (I wasn't carrying that much for the 2-night Christening Cruise). While they didn't add quite as much built-in storage as I thought they would, the size of all the drawers seems more useful, and they've added additional storage shelves in the closets. The storage space in the hassock is also a help. -dm

Should we buy an travel plug converter? How many 110 volt plugs are in each stateroom? There are 4 accessible 110v plugs, and just one 220v plug. There's one 110v "shaver" plug in the bathroom ceiling[!), one 110v next to the bed (two if you unplug the DCL-supplied clock), and two 110v at the desk. There's also one 220v at the desk. So, if you think you won't have enough outlets, then get a 220v adapter. Or a regular 110v outlet strip.

Is it possible to walk from fore to aft on level 5 - e.g. from cabins to the children's club areas? Yes, except for entry to Vibe, the teen club. The wheelchair/accessible entrance to that is on deck 5, but the main entrance for teens is a stairway that goes from the deck 4 promenade (port side) up to the club on 5. I presume that's for the sake of guests in the deck 5 forward staterooms.
