As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!
Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

My baby sis got married!!! - COMPLETED & PHOTO ADDED 10/21!!!
Destination: the beautiful state of Oregon
Dates:
Monday, July 26, 2004 until Wednesday, August 25, 2004
Adventurers:
Me, Sarah (27)
DH, Mike (28)
DD, Emilie (3 ½)
. . . with appearances by DM, DF, 2 DSis, soon-to-be DBIL AND a plethora of old high school classmates, friends and enemies!!!
Resorts:
My old bedroom in my mom and dad's house!!!
Celebrations:
Holy Cow!!! My baby sister is getting married!!! AND it's time for my 10 year high school class reunion!!!
Well, fellow PassPorters, this won't be your typical trip report!!! I decided that to get even more familiar with trip report writing, I would do a little one about my sister's upcoming wedding in mid-August!!!
So here's the pre-trip report and a little background!!!
First of all -- for those who haven't seen who I am yet, here I am!!!
---- Hey there, Hi there, Ho there! This is me! DH insisted on taking a pic and I gave him a smart-alecky look, so this isn't the best! ----
My sister, Julie (22), and her fiancée Robert (22) have been dating for as long as I have been married!!! (I have been married for 5 ½ years!!!) We have expected throughout the last couple of years that Robert was going to propose, we just couldn't figure out when!!! All of their close high school friends had married each other last summer (yep, they did) and I think, in a way, Rob was feeling the pressure a little!!! He and Jules talked about it and didn't decide anything from it. Fast forward to early December, my family is all getting ready to head to WDW to meet DH, DD and I there . . . Julie called me at home to tell me that she and Robert had gone shopping and that he proposed to her that day!!! They purchased their wedding bands that day as well!!! So, we celebrated their engagement at WDW (without Robert )!!! Where else to celebrate but there?!
Fast forward to March now . . . plans had all basically been finalized and everything was purchased and reserved, all except the bridesmaid dresses!!! This is where I come in to play . . . I am the matron of honor!!! Julie couldn't pick between Tina (our other sis) and I so she chose us to both be "of-honors" and she is having no other bridesmaids. Which made me feel real special!!! So, I flew out to Oregon in March and tried on dresses . . . got to buy a dress a size smaller than I normally wear (SO excited!!!) and purchased the shoes. Quick and painless!!!
----- Our dresses (for the color anyways!) and the shoes!!! -----
I came home and started planning the bridal shower (and my 2 upcoming Disney trips!!!)!!! Julie and Robert called a few weeks ago to tell me that they have decided to spend their honeymoon at Disneyland!!! (Jealous!!! ) They got a great deal on hotel and park passes so they jumped on it!!! The whole package cost $500 and that was for 5 nights at a Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel, 2 – 5 day Park Hopper Passes and 2 meals in the hotel restaurant!!! GREAT DEAL!!! I helped her out with making PS's for meals she really wanted to do at DL -- it's looking like Blue Bayou (inside "Pirates" and possibly Napa Rose!!! Those were the last of the details to be finalized and now all there was to do is sit and wait (and cry when Jules graduated from college GO DUCKS!!!) !!!
----- Julie and Robert at her graduation from the University of Oregon (June 2004) -----
So, now here we are in late July and DD and I are getting ready to head west again!!! Flying out next week for a month to get my dress altered (it has to be taken IN!!!!), attend my 10 year reunion (DREADING IT!!!), attend the bridal shower and wait for the wedding!!! DH doesn't have much leave left (enough for this trip and October's WDW trip!!!) so he will be flying out the week before the wedding to meet us there. He is an usher, so EVERYONE is involved!!!
I will be checking the boards as often as I can, and will post a full report when I return in August (hopefully with pictures of everything)!!! My main goal, photo wise, is to get a pic taken with ME in it . . . I don't have any good ones, as you can see by the first one posted here!!!
I will return in August with all the details!!!

Re: My baby sis is getting married!!! - Pre-trip report (now w/ pics)!!!
Hey that dress and those shoes look aweful familiar! I had the same color in my wedding with silver shoes. I let all of my bridesmaids pick the style dress they wanted to wear so each girl (and guy) would have what looked best on her (or him) Everyone wore red dresses then silver shoes. I'm sure your sisters wedding will be absolutely beautiful!

I'm from a small town (8000 people) about 25 miles south of Eugene!!! My parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc . . . all still live there!!! My youngest sister lives in Eugene and my "middle" sister lives in Warrenton, which is just about as far north and west in the state as you can get!!! So far, I am the only one who has moved away from the state (besides my parents in the 70's and 80's when dad was in the Navy!!!)
The only thing I never liked about the Northwest was all the rain!!! Soaked my socks inside my birkenstocks!!! (For those who have never been to the Eugene, OR area, we have kind of a "hippie" mentality . . . a live and let live type of attitude . . . and yes, we wear birkenstocks year round with and without socks!!! Even though I left the state, that part never left me!!! )
Anyone thinking about heading that way, visit Crater Lake and drive through the lava beds in central Oregon But the drive up the coast is really nice as well!!! And the drive up Interstate 5 (my town straddles I-5) is a nice one as well!!!

Oh, I will be here . . . just not nearly as often as I am now!!! More than likely I will drop in once a day, if I can, and check in!!! Mom and dad are still dealing with really slow computer issues and even slower dial-up!!! They're wanting to get DSL, but the area for DSL stops about 100 feet down the road from them (they live in the country) -- phone company said hopefully by year's end they will expand that way for DSL!!! Well, doesn't help much NOW!!!
I added a couple of photos here -- got them from David's Bridal to show what our dresses will look like!!! The dresses are "Apple Red" in color, like the picture, and the shoes are "Sterling Silver" colored. (I wish I looked like the girl in this picture does with this dress on!!!

Re: My baby sis is getting married!!! - Pre-trip report (now w/ pics)!!!
Oh yeah . . . a little backstory on my reunion as well!!!
We had 141 people in our graduating class back in June 1994 -- in fact, here is a photo of ME on that day . . . my, how I've changed!!!
Lots of folks from our class never left!!! A lot of those who did leave "town" never really went too far away!!! There are just a few of us who found ourselves out of state or even across the country Our reunion is taking place over an entire weekend at the end of July -- one evening (bowling?!) just for the alumni, one "no kids invited" night and one day for a family picnic. I am only doing the second 2 --- I'm not a bowler!!!
Not only am I dreading just going to my reunion weekend, I am dreading going ALONE!!! Since DH didn't have enough leave time to come out with me the whole time, he isn't coming out until well into August. My reunion in the last weekend of this month!!! Luckily, I am still very close with a couple of old school friends, who I know are going solo as well, so we'll just go together!!!
I think the thing I am dreading the most is seeing the girl who was my WORST enemy in middle and high school . . . I haven't seen her in years!!! She was really very torturous to me in school and I've never forgiven her for making my life heck . . . I used to be one of those kids that was so small I got shoved into lockers and I usually came home from school bruised!!! A few months back, she found me through Classmates.com and we've since became "friends" and have been talking through e-mail. Also, when she found me on Classmates, she said she picked up the phone and called my mother (she didn't even have to look up the number, as she had it memorized from the times she called - mostly pranks in high school - all those years ago!!!) More than 10 years, she had that number memorized!!! Mom gave her my number here and she called me just before Christmas -- it was THE WEIRDEST phone call I have ever been on!!! We still haven't seen each other, as she lives in Washington, and she's never apologized though, so it is still going to be VERY awkward!!! . . . and I have to deal with it all on my own!!!
I know it will all turn out fine . . . and the best part is that I will more than likely be driving my parents truck (that they DON'T drive) so if it gets too weird, forget my $40 -- I'm out the door!!!

Re: My baby sis is getting married!!! - Pre-trip report (now w/ pics)!!!
It sounds like you have alot planned for next month!! My goodness!
I didn't attend my 10-year reunion in 2002 because my silly classmates scheduled it for the day after Thanksgiving. I always head to Vermont for Christmas but never for Thanksgiving so I couldn't go. Anyway it was at a bar (my Class was known as the Brew Crew of 92) and I am not a drinker. My class was just the opposite of yours most of my class moved out of Vermont upon graduation in fact we even had two Rhodes Scholars. I just moved to Michigan and ended up kind of stuck here!
Have fun at the wedding the dress is beautiful!! I love shoulder wraps they are so elegant!

The dress looks beautiful Sarah, hopefully your class reunion will be fine, I haven't been to one but DBF Allan went to his last year and he loved it, he said even the nasty people at school were very nice.

Re: My baby sis is getting married!!! - I\'m on my way!!!
Well, fellow PassPorters . . . I am on my way!!! We're due to board our plane later today and we're all packed!!! Well, for the most part!!! Still have those last minute items to toss into the seemingly OVERSTUFFED suitcases!!!
You can definitely tell we're going for a while . . . DD seemed to think she needed to pack every toy she has, so we had to go through and pick out a few and limit it at that!!! It also doesn't help that we're having to take our fancy clothes with us too!!! Takes up a LOT of room!!! The good thing is that when we return, I will more than likely be able to fit the smaller suitcase inside the larger one!!! The big one will be 95% empty on the way back!!! (Except I have to bring home my bridesmaid dress and shoes!!!)
So, we're checked in (online . . . what a great feature!!!) . . . we have our boarding passes . . . bags are ready to go (sort of) . . . just have to check the bags once we get to the airport, which should be quick and painless . . . then we're off into the wild blue yonder!!!
I've said it before, but I might as well add it to this post too . . . I will stop in and visit as much as I can!!! Mom has an old, slow PC and even slower dial-up so once a day for a few minutes may be the only time I get!!! Plus, with my father being a police officer, mom is really picky about how long everyone can be dialed out . . . "can't tie up the phone line!!!" We are SO praying the phone company extends the DSL area another 100 feet on their road so they can get it and mom can stop worrying!!! I go from my house (with DSL - I'm on the computer a few times a day!) to mom's house where I start to snore waiting for things to load!!!
See you all when I get back!!!
