As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.
So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.
Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.
And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.
We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.
There are other changes as well.
Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:
We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.
It's time to move on and move forward.
PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.
But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.
So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.
And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.
That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!
If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.
So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

I thought i'd write a trip report for my Day trip to Block Island since I am procrastinating on having to pack for my upcoming Disney trip and plus will help me upload my photos so I can clear out the memory card! Plus some people may actually like hearing about it if not then read anyway to make me think that
So you probably want to hear all the fun stuff like who's going, why and how. You'll stop reading then and the rest of the gab won't matter just kidding!
So the Cast of Characters:
Amy- Thats me your TR writer, I'm 25 going on 5 and get distracted by all things shiny and enjoyer of Margarita's, Disney and well travel in general. Multiple trips to Block Island as a kid
Angela- My mom, age 52 (yes she'll kill me later for telling you but she isn't writing it so she will have to deal with it) another travel enthusiast and multiple trip goer to Block Island.
Dennis- My Mother's husband (ok my father so you don't get the wrong idea) 54 and goes places to eat but not much else. We bring him along to pay for things but a real grouch to be around. There won't be much about him in here but he went.
When: Sunday September 2nd, 2007
Why: well because we had to use tickets before they expired and well it was our last chance to go before the summer ended!
So on with the show!
Well this all started the end of July when my mom came sadly into my room and sat down saying how she wished she could go to Block Island this summer but it didn't look like it would work out. See we usually go 1 or 2 times a summer but this year we were so busy with a wedding, my 25th birthday (hey i think that should have been a national holiday but still i digress) and a trip to Pennsylvania, a camping trip with Dyan, and just trying to get things ready for a Surprise Party and a trip to Disney we just didn't know how we could 1. afford it 2. find time for it and 3. both 1 and 2!
Well about 2 weeks later I was driving into my place of employment and had on this radio station that I don't usually listen to but they had my "song of the week" on and I couldn't change the channel that would have been bad! I usually end up digging one song for about a week want to hear it as much as possible then it gets boring and i move on! So anyway like you wanted to hear that but anyways...
After the song ends they went into some mindless chatter about Paris/Lindsay/Nicole's arrest pick one i'm sure it was about all three at some point and then he says something about having fun like that on block island call now for free tickets on the hi speed ferry! So normally i wouldn't even think of trying as I usually could have the only name in a barrell and still lose whatever they were drawing for but i dialed the number and it rang, and rang, and rang. Well just about the time I was going to hang up the radio DJ answers and says "whats your name" I said Amy and he said "congrats your my 6th caller" me not having listened don't know if that means i won or if i'm the wrong caller so I blankly say "i am do i win?" he laughed probably because most people would be more excited but frankly I never know how to react when stuff like this happens. Well of course I won the tickets!
So now I had 2 Free round trip tickets on the Hi-Speed Ferry out of New London, CT to Block Island that would be good until the end of 2007. I hung up after giving my information and called mom she was absolutely ecstatic about it and said we'd find time before the summer ended to go!
We couldn't go the very next weekend because of some family obligations, then I had job interviews so we couldn't go on a monday so we settled on the Last Sunday in August. We called made reservations but then the forecast came out and it was going to be overcast and really humid so we sadly cancelled. But rebooked for Sunday of Labor Day weekend
We worried about crowds but figured it would be a nice break from work and if we could get enough done before then we wouldn't be too far behind for our trip, surprise party (we are hosting) and could go and have fun!
Up next.... How we added a 3rd person and will the weather work out?

So now that we had finally decided that we would go rain or shine on the Sunday of Labor day weekend my mother's husband decided he would go and pay for his own ticket since we only had 2 free tickets. So now we were a party of 3 instead of a party of 2!
So our next worry was weather and would it hold out or would or luck continue with crummy weather. Well I watched and refreshed weather websites for the week leading up to Sunday and we were looking good for NO rain and LOTS of Sun!!!!
For someone who craves heat and warmth and sun this was perfect! It ended up being one of the Best Days of the summer and we were lucky in that department. As you will find out the Sun will play a factor later!
So with the decision of who is going and the weather working out we set our clocks for 5 am because our ferry left New London promptly at 8:10am and we had to get there for 7 am to find parking spaces.
So we got ready and head out and made good time took about 20 minutes to get there so we were there just at 7am. We got the last parking space at the $10 lot right at the ferry dock and we got out to quite a temperature shock. It was FREEZING!!!!!
We quickly got back in the car and sat and waited for the ticket office to open and checked in for a ferry. My mother's husband stood in line for the boat to get seats and mom and I sat in the car trying to stay warm. It would warm up we knew it but that early morning chill was more then our bodies were used to yet!
Well they let us onto the upper deck to wait to get on the boat about 7:45am so mom and I had to get out and go up to wait. It was sooo Cold!!! The dock and line was huge so we knew the island would be busy! We were let onto the boat at 8 am and everyone was quick about loading.
We ended up on the top deck inside at a table so we were able to spread out and take out our playing cards and play rummy on the trip there. My mom and I decided that my mother's husband cheats because he won every stinkin' hand! Cheating i swear he was!
We made it to Block Island in about 1 hour or so and were ordering Brunch by 10am.
Up Next... Breakfast and Ummm that sink isn't supposed to be used like that!
