(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Pause for reflection on energy and motivation
Check out this book:
Walt Disney Imagineering-A behind the Dreams Look at Making the Magic Real by the imagineers-published by Hyperion in 1996.
On page 77, I found this quote: "There are no days in life so memorable as those which vibrate to some stroke of the imagination"-Ralph Waldo Emerson.
This thought struck me. When I think of vibration, I think of energy, which really is required to get anything done.
Are you one who jumps right into your goals, dreams, and projects? Are there barriers that get in the way?
My goal for this blog is to spend some time every day for a year using Walt Disney's ideals, style, or philosophy to bring change into my world.
I decided to try a group blog because working in a group is one of the biggest motivators I know. So, I'm going to ask anyone popping in...if participation in the work is not for you, can you cheer me on?
I've actually seen a big improvement in my energy since this blog has sparked my imagination. Yesterday, I came to a crossroads. I went downstairs to the room where I see my kids in my private practice. I looked at the work I had up on the walls. All the reminders of progress, creativity, and fun.
I have a habit of leaving one item up for each student to remember them by. Well, that is a loving way to remember your kids, BUT it gets a little messy and cluttered.
I've known for years that I need to do something about those walls, but I just never could decide to take action on it.
In just a few moments, I took down a whole wall of treasured artwork and stories, and had to admit...THIS LOOKS A WHOLE LOT BETTER!
Maybe I need to keep a scrap book with the kid's work and let the walls calm down.
I just bought a new hammock swing, which hangs in the middle of the room. The colors are bright and tropical. When I first put it up, it clashed harshly with the colors from my kid's artwork. When I took the artwork from the one wall, the swing looked balanced in a nice way.
I started to get all excited about the theme for this room, which would be similar to a Caribbean Beach Resort/Coronado Springs/Adventure Land motif.
I mean, I really got excited! And that is important because I felt a momentum that I used to have daily. My imagination would spark and I would immediately embark on a firestorm of activity.
I think the decisive factor with productivity is that you must actually believe you will accomplish something. I think this belief can get squashed by any number of factors: lack of funds, lack of time, negative people, poor health, poor organization, you name it.
My imagination spark, for much of my life, came effortlessly and, I have to admit, I did not appreciate it much. The way things often go when we grow up, I could not count on that spark as much lately.
I'm actually glad for that because, yesterday, when the spark lit up, it was not something to be taken for granted. It felt like momentum, energy, drive, and growth.
I was vibrating to my imagination, and it felt like a rush.
Can anyone relate to that?

Everything you just described paints a perfect picture of me. The anxiety I get when an idea hits is scary sometimes. Especially when I have deadlines that must come first before I start. If it's a mural or paint job, I barely feel like taking the steps to prepare my room, I just want to dive in and create the space. I need to get it out of my head, stand back and hopefully my stomach will twist with excitement, a little pat ton the back. Then I have to put the mess back...
Creating a scrapbook is a great idea, even scan the original and turn them into photos for an album or a digital frame that changes every 5 seconds...
p.s. Alice's middle name is Emerson... not why I gave it to her but eerie all the same...
LOVE the topics... I could write forever!!!0 Pixie Dust

I can relate to everything you said. I have to say that, today, while I was writing this blog, I became enthusiastic about painting my room. I had morning plans with a friend, then, as soon as I got home, I got right in the car with a swatch and I bought paint. My room is now painted!
I'm not sure exactly why I started this silly blog project. I know that I wanted to learn to blog. I know I wanted to see if somehow a group might move forward with a project of some sorts. A big reason was that I wanted something to find a little momentum to be creative.
Well, I've done it! I LOVE the color of my room. It almost reminds me of a robin's egg. It is a bit more colorful than I've ever chosen in the past, but I love it.
So, thank you blog! Please, if anyone else finds themselves motivated, please let me know what you've done, even if it seems like a small task.0 Pixie Dust

If you seen my web site I got it put together a bit different now I'm all excited about when the editing gets done, then I can move on to my next hotel. I can't wait until I do WDW hotels. If anyone like to help me with this while they are there PM me, But I like to do the hotels on the Monorail line. Another excitement is when I see a kid get something I try to guide him or her to do well. This is a good topic Sandy.0 Pixie Dust

Yup, when I get motivated about something, I do feel that rush/vibration, and it kinda takes on a life of it's own! I;m on a mission until it gets done. Then sometimes I can get overwhelmed thinking about all the work involved and end up not doing anything. All depends. Like you, I guess as I get older things slow down, maybe cause I don't have the same energy as when I was younger, I can't count on the same spark as much as I used to. But it's great when I get it!!
Love the idea of the Caribbean Beach theme. Maybe a Florida Keys theme?!!
Great idea to make a scrap book.0 Pixie Dust

Betty Sue, each day is it's own little theme, so you can join in any time. OK, actually, I am making it up as I go along, so your guess is as good as mine what will come next.
Angie, I can't believe you mentioned black river rocks. One day I am going to have a shower that has inlaid black river rocks on the floor. It will be just like a spa.
Sue M, Hmmmmmm, a FLorida Keys color theme sounds nice!
Todd, Thanks for popping in. I think our daily themes would apply to your personal project of creating that website.0 Pixie Dust

I plan to use the book quite a bit to start. This is a wonderful book, full of unique graphics and information.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, I am not quite sure how to subscribe to the blog. I notice on the left hand column I see "subscribe to blog".
Other wise, I am setting a goal to post every single day for a school year, so if you check my profile page, then click on the blog tab, that should get you there..0 Pixie Dust

It's is so "strange" that this is going on- as when we were leaving Disney yesterday, I bought 2 cookbooks and had this same kind of energy to try a recipe or two every week, and to start doing something for just me on a daily basis... as I do so much for other people everyday, I figured - I AM worth it.... and I will do this!!! So thanks for this blog.... I wil travel along with you....0 Pixie Dust

Hi! I LOVE the idea of following along with a cooking project. That is exactly what I was hoping to do... get all kinds of people with a whole bunch of different projects moving forward together.
Once I tried to start a wave while waiting for FANTASMIC! to begin. I didn't get everyone, but I'd have to guess there were a few thousand all participating before we ran out of time.
My wish is that, somehow, this silly blog will become like a big wave, with lots of people commenting on their own project, one after another.
On the other hand, perhaps I've just had one too many cups of coffee and I need to switch to decaf!0 Pixie Dust

Reminds me of when I finally got tired of looking at our "old-lady" wallpaper in the hall bathroom and just went ahead and pulled it all down. Then once it was down we had to paint. I chose a bright yellow - actually brighter than I had intended, because I planned to do a rag-roll technique with a shade darker over it, but dh nixed the idea of having to buy twice the paint for one small space. So it is now bright sunny yellow. I toned it down by using sage green towels and rug, and dark accent pieces. Still need to do something about the countertop, but since it is in good shape that is something I'm fine with leaving for a while.0 Pixie Dust
