Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)

This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.

I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.

I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Walt Disney was a bit of a perfectionist, stressing the importance of finishing touches in all his projects. We've been looking at how Walt created large theme areas, then smaller theme areas within. Each area is separate from the others in decor, music, uniforms, and even food when appropriate. He thought of every detail. Can you choose one room or small area and spend some time on finishing touches today? Look at a surface-it could be a couch that needs a new throw, a counter-top, or a night stand. What atmosphere or mood do you want to create? What would your theme word be?

Yesterday, I really got motivated to work on my bedroom. My bedroom managed, by a series of choices or by default, to become my castle room. I have a frame with a series of three prints depicting medieval knights. I have lots of pretty things. My bedspread looks very much like the spread in the castle suite in MK. My most recent addition was a pretty chandelier, which I just adore!

Yesterday's project was to organize the inside areas that had gotten out of hand. Today, I'm going to spend a little time on surfaces to create the theme that I really like in that room.

Of course, I don't want to pretend I am in a castle. I want the FEEL of luxury, beauty, being pampered, glitter and, yes, order and lack of clutter. I think the theme was sanctuary.

That will mean moving some books to the shelves in my office and possibly relocating or donating a few of the knick-knacks that are ready to be recycled.

So, that is my goal for today, to do the fine touches on my theme, so when I walk into the room, it speaks only the words I want to hear in that space. I want to feel like I am walking into a space of sanctuary.

Why not try this for yourself? What would your theme word be?

I have some ideas for our den, but today I am going to my parents for a cookout and family get together. Alas, I will have to take this up tomorrow.

No worries! I'm trying to design this so each piece can be done whenever and people can skip or do two in one day if they like.

In case any of those peeking in are wondering...Yes, I am making this up as I go along and no, I do not have any idea what I am doing or where I am going with this.

I can say that my theme is moving along nicely and I've already met my time goal for today. This really is one of those things that expands, though, so maybe I'll report on how it went tonight.

OK, it is night time, and I think I had success creating a theme in my room. The sanctuary theme was pretty easy to do just by removing some things, rearranging some, and adding only two things. (butterflies and a painting that used to be downstairs). I moved a few angel figurines to the shelves that were previously filled with books.

By removing all things that did not fit with my theme, and only using things that fit, there really is a certain atmosphere.

I spent longer than the 15 minutes I suggested, but I love creating a space with a theme in mind, and I definitely recommend it!

    nighty night!

Oh, my areas would take so much longer than 15 minutes!!!! Let's talk about days!!! Maybe I can do mini-areas and work on those bigger things over a longer period of time!

Hi Betty Sue! Thanks for joining!

The point of this "experiment"...I say experiment because I may be doing this all by myself...is to see if a group of people can use an online blog to move forward with some sort of evolving goal in mind.

One if the biggest things I am learning is that I have to keep each daily "project" very small.

So choose one area and start with 15 minutes. Maybe just a counter-top.

I ended up spending the whole day on my whole room, but that is just because I had the time that day and, somehow, I felt very motivated once I got started.

Bleaders who are not posting, HELLO!! Thanks for popping in.

The theme that comes to my mind is comfort. But I also want my home to be uncluttered, that's the main part, is to get better organized. I'm constantly pulling a few things here and there to add to my garage sale box(es). I think if a room is cluttered, it's not comfortable. I want to update our bed comforter to a quilt - when we go to Branson at Thanksgiving I'm going to visit the quilt store that I like and see if we can agree on one. So I've got this project in mind, it'll just have to wait a little while for progress.

SECOND ROUND FOR ME: A place for everything and everything in it's place.

As I mentioned, I found another area of need in my house, so I am just reviewing the steps we already did.

My theme this time is A place for everything and everything in it's place. I guess if I had to take my own directions and choose a word, it would be organized.

My plan is to spend alot of the day setting the stage for a productive year with as little extra steps or wasted searching time as possible.

    Let's see how it goes!

Well, start with Home #1 and go as slowly as you like!

The first time I did this, I was so motivated that I redid my bedroom in less than a week. It was pretty exciting. Good to see you, BTW! I'll bet you can't wait for the 2010 PassPorter to come out with your photo!
