(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

"Oh yes, what demons may one find in their closet of anxieties....." Opus
So to help Sandra I will point out that creating "Goals" will help focus attention on something other than our closet of anxieties. If I focus on helping others I can go to bed feeling good and leave the closet door closed.

Let's use Aaron's quote as a writing prompt. Please help develop this blog entry in the comments. I'll come back later when I get the time.
WOW, Aaron, scary stuff!
Aaron makes a great point that, whatever is causing you the problems, setting goals might just be the best monster spray of all!
THANKS!

Aaron, I loved your personal goal, and that is something else that I am working on as well. Sorry your quote is a little over my head, Iwill have to say you are absolutely right on helping others, you do go to sleep knowing you've done something good for someone else. Actually when we did a practice visit to Santa Claus (he's already come to a mall near us), and he asked DS what he wanted for Christmas, we told him we wanted to help sick children.0 Pixie Dust

Why do kids have to say those things? It always so suprising and moving when they do, but they usually do not understand the force what they said hits us. All you can do when they say that is sit back and say "wow even he gets it; so why not the rest of the world?".
My new job has put me right smack in the middle of the retirement/nursing community. This creates daily opportunities for my goal. At first the door to my anxiety closet was wide open, but I had to remember a simple philosophy Keep-It-Simple-Stupid. Instead of trying to help everyone all at once I had to remember to start with just making one persons day a little better and bite off the bigger pieces later.
I blame Sandra daily for all of this of course. If she had never asked me a goal I could have stuck to being lazy and insignificant.
In her defense though we can use this blog as a crutch. When we get lazy instead of beating ourselves up we can come here to be reminded that off days happen. Or to be reminded that sometimes we can try to do too much.
However, this being the Christmas season and all let's put together a small Christmas wish for your DS.
www.makeachildsmile.org gives you addresses to send a sick kid a card. A simple way to help to set an early goal and put it in action.0 Pixie Dust

maybe just being human is a crutch, as many of us give ourselves goals to be done in "time limits" as to not enjoy the "ride" or the taking of time to "smell the roses" or to actually learn the lesson(s)
along the way.... When will we realize that it's ok to take it a little at a time and to enjoy the little successes along the way....0 Pixie Dust

That is really a great point! Enjoying the ride, smelling the roses, and learning the lessons are a big part of any project.
Sometimes we set time limits without realizing how long it will take for a project to "cook." Then we push something out that is not really ready. Or maybe we have not learned the lessons because we were rushing.
On the other hand, there NEEDS to be an ending date and a finished product for alot of projects. You can fall into the error of making excuses for procrastination.
It is not easy to be human, that is for SURE!0 Pixie Dust
