(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Thinking circuits
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” - Walt Disney
I'm teaching a young person who is so full of energy and life. She has this creative spark and she loves to enjoy life and everything it has to offer.
BUT she just can't seem to pull it together to write a paper.
I have some students who can't figure out how to complete a big school project.
I could go on and on, but I will summarize by saying that a big percentage of my school caseload, my private practive, AND my college students get derailed at a certain point in a paper or project and they just can't move forward.
They get all caught up in some emotion that does not empower them and, before they know it, there is no space left for anything BUT that emotion that is not empowering them.
And so, they lose their power.
This is how so many of my students from preschool to adult crash and burn. They get a short circuit and lose power. Then, as far as the task at hand goes, they are in the dark.
Think of the electrical system in your house. If every time you plug five appliances into it, the fuse blows, you'll never be able to run those five appliances on that circuit unless you make some changes.
You can decide to plug things into other outlets, which can work UNLESS you need to run all those appliances on that circuit. Then you will just need to find a way to rewire so the circuit handles more, right? (And, of course, call a trained professional for that!)
But back to learning. If you break down with the same level of thinking or organizing or whatever it may be, you will have a rough time ever getting past that if you don't do some work at the source.
Do you have any rewiring that might help you get past your little breakdowns?

So it's odd that your blog today is exactly related to my personal email to you... so for the sake of your blog, your career and anyone that may not want to share... I take a deep breath and... well... share... you may not get it or understand it, but please, if youy have a thought at all that may help... please share too!

Sandy...Thank you so much for checking in... As sad as it may seem, I have almost come to a realization (with some help) that it's time I put a job first and consider the idea that art will never give me what I want... it will make me happy but just not a career... ya know?
I think that I am starting to realize that if I don't have painting, I don't have anything that is mine... to build on, to support my family n' travelling plans n' such...
Any thoughts? I don't want to give up on art but I think my eyes are too big for my stomach... my dreams are too big for my reality and I can't keep up... setting myself up for dissappointment all the time...
Let me know what you think, to me it sounds a little motivating, inspiring... but to some, it could seem like I am being ambushed or brainwashed... I'd love your opinion on this...
thanks again!0 Pixie Dust

That's a good suggestion!
I did something like that. I used to be a tenor sax player and I went into Music Therapy and Music Education for a while.
One problem, though, is that kept me in music, but not necessarily playing my horn. Eventually I was a music teacher who no longer played saxaphone and, then, I moved on to another career altogether.
Now, to be honest, even though I used to be pretty good, I didn't have what it took to make a career or playing music, BUT IMHO, I think Angie has something special with her art and, while some sort of bill paying career would probably be wise, I think she should continue to push with her art.
And my truth is that, my whole life, what I really wanted to be was a writer but, like art, that is a hard field to figure out, especially when you have not created your niche.
This thread is about rewiring breakdowns and, with my writing, I have a few areas of breakdown that have gotten in the way of sending some pieces out, just like Angie and her art. I think this is a breakdown in the area of BELIEF or CONFIDENCE. When you have a goal that involves creating something that you hope others will appreciate, you need alot of that because you are going to have to do alot of work with no real reward for a while, I think.0 Pixie Dust
