Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)

This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.

I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.

I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Fake it till you make it!

Somehow, I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.
Walt Disney

I think I'd like to spend a few days on this quote. Today I want to discuss constancy.

I was talking with a friend today, and we were discussing momentum, particularly the way the once you get moving you seem to keep moving, but once you plop on the couch, you tend to remain plopped on the couch.

We both have things we are so eager to accomplish today, but, at the same time, there's that couch! Oh, and did I mention the remote?

Or maybe your plopping place is in front of the computer, or perhaps it is at the kitchen table with a snack. Some people enjoy a good group plop with other people who are sitting around thinking about what they should be doing, but not really doing it.

To get something done, you need a measure of constancy. You need to unplop and get moving toward the goal.

But, my friend's dilemma was a lack of motivation. For some things, I have to admit, I have the same lack of motivation.

Here's what we came up with, though. It seems that the internal dialogue before deciding to either move or plop, it can be a toss of the coin which way you go.

What if we just err on the side of constancy?

What if we just say, I spend 30 minutes power walking every Sunday and I'm off to do it now. Or, in her case, I decided to spend some time dealing with backed up mail today and I'm going to do it right now.

To just jump right in there and cut out the hour-or-so of back and forth inner dialogue, even if you aren't sure about it.

Could that have a fake-it-till-you-make-it effect?

I sort-of went through that with blogging today. I wasn't really sure if I wanted to do an entry at all, but I decided to do it anyway and, for what it is worth, here it is! By sitting down and starting as if I wanted to, I ended up with the entry I promised myself I'd keep up with every day. Constancy, as Walt said.

And now it's time to go off to my favorite walking path by the castle to do my power walking which, by the way, always includes the Disney parade music I have on my ipod.

And, thanks Jen, for inspiring me. Hope the mail and the basement work out for ya!

That's awesome!! Thanks for the post!
It's Thanksgiving here in Canada, so a big THANKS for motivating me everyday to paint... the blog helps to remind me that I am not the only one that wakes up and tell myself "it's all gonna be worth it... keep going"!!

p.s. I loved what you wrote about your daily exercise while listening to the parade theme song from the park... that sounds like so much fun! I work out everyday and I think that is so fun! I want to try it and because Alice plays on the computer while I workout, she'd enjoy it too... Without risking walking into a pole or a stranger, I'd close my eyes and be on Main St. USA with all the smells and sounds! Mmmmm....

Have a great night and I will watch for her request! Thanks again!

And everytime you post a blog about internal dailogue... just know that you help me to paint more and more because I can tell myself now that one more day of painting can either make my dreams come true or I can go clean those toilets and mop those floors at work for one more day... It's up to me and this helps me atleast push a little harder... and I will keep humming the Main St. Parade music the whole time!!
    Thanks Sandy!!

The responsibilities, the regular things in life have been interupting our progress in our den project. We enter into the house through the den door though so it is there everyday to remind me. I just hope we get a break soon to be able to continue with our Den that Simba can love

Thanks so much for the responses and the check-ins!

I know just what you are saying! I've seen the same problems. I have found that, in some ways, an online community gives me a shot in the arm.

I think I forgot to mention how the exercise thread in The Challenge forum here that has been a real motivator for exercising! I LOVE signing on and clocking my exercise minutes.

On the other hand, checking in to motivate others takes up alot of time and, in some ways, can be a time distraction from exercise.

I think a motivation blog can present the same problem...you have to check in, but it takes time to do that!

So, thank you to those who check in, to those who post, to those who just read, and to those who have checked in once but continue with your projects on your own.

Sorry, I'm rambling. I was up ALL NIGHT with a sick cat and the coffee has not kicked in yet.

Just remember Sandy that it is not your responsibility to motivate me... as much as I love it, need it and enjoy everything you say... taking your own time to kick your own ass is well deserved. I hope that someone puts in the same time and effort you do to push you a little harder.
You keep everyone coming back to the blog so regardless, you are doing something right for all of us! We love and need you so every once in a while, why not post a blog about all that you need to hear to make it through the day...
take care of your cat... we will forgive you if you take a day... but only one

OK, Angie, clearly you have me mistaken for someone who is unselfish and altruistic!

I AM doing this for myself. The daily accountablility is helping me to really zero in one what works and what does not when it comes to making good use of my time.

The posts from readers telling me they are moving along with their projects makes me motivated and validated.

The posts from readers adding their own experiences helps me to learn.

Oh, and I love my cat, so taking care of her just keeps her around a while longer so I can keep loving her.

As far as bloggin every day, I promised myself I'd do that, and I'm just following through.

It took a few days to build up the "courage" (a theme I've picked up from your last few entries ) but I washed most of the dirty dishes ... hopefully I can force myself to finish up tomorrow. Between this and dusting, I don't know which I detest the most!
