(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

17 days to GOal: Who do you want?
You don't build it for yourself. You know what the people want and you build it for them.

What came to mind was - if you build it - they will come...

(Here I am again!)
I love that concept, the notion that if you build it, they will come. One of my favorite movie scenes is the row of cars coming to the field in the middle of nowhere in Field of Dreams.
Well, instead of building a field in the middle of nowhere, I built a blog out in virtual nowhere.
I'm not exactly sure why, either. I think I just had some time on my hands and I wanted to see what would happen and who would come. I'm still waiting...........OH, the mystery!
I really didn't know who would show up. I didn't really know what to write half the time. And, when I think of the Disney quote above, I have to tell you that I really don't know what "the people" want.
All I invested was a little time and typing! Walt Disney, on the other hand, had a great deal on the line when he put his confidence in what the people want.
I'm glad for people like Walt Disney who have that intuitive sense.
I can't believe that in only three sleeps (AKA three nights) I will be on a plane to Orlando. OK, the first half of the trip is a conference, but the second half of the trip will be in DISNEY WORLD!
Every time I visit, when the car pulls under the gates, I feel in my heart that I've somehow come home. OK, there are crowds, but there are crowds because lots of people are drawn there!
Drawn to a place that, not TOO long ago, was a swamp in the middle of what many people would have called nowhere...that is until something they wanted was built there!
And that is my blog entry for today!

Walt certainly lived by the "If you build it, they will come." philosophy. I mean, he took an orange grove and built Disneyland with as many resources as he could muster and people telling him it couldn't be done. Then on opening day it was filled. The same thing with swamp land in Florida. He built it and we all came.
If you think of "Walt's Folly" aka Snow White, you know that he lived by that philosophy. He built a feature length animated movie when animations were only for the short featurettes before the main movie. People flocked to that movie too.
I think we have a lot to learn from Walt. The college I am attending now has been a upper class 2 year college for a few decades now. (Meaning junior and senior level classes only.) But this coming fall, they are opening up to being a four year university. They have built the foundation and now the freshmen and sophomores are coming to the school.0 Pixie Dust
