(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Can you tune out the goal critics?

"We are not trying to entertain the critics. I'll take my chances with the public."
Walt Disney
I think that Walt was wise not to try to entertain the critics. I'm sure he didn't mean to ignore wise counsel, but I suspect he was deciding not to try and please everyone, especially those who take a critical view.
I had a long talk with a friend over breakfast on the topic of our goals and dreams. On a less pie-in-the-sky level, we also talked about those things that we HAVE to do.
We realized that, usually, if you share plans with people, they will be quick to jump in and tell you what might go wrong. In a group, you might end up with five or six horror possibilities that are now in your head, even when it is impossible for all of them to happen.
We decided that we can politely thank the critics, consider what they have to offer, then tune them out.
There are some awesome people who may disagree or have a different point of view, then there are those who ALWAYS have a negative tidbit to toss into the mix.
I think being aware of the difference is important.
Do you have any critics?

I have lots of critics. Or so it seems. I know that I live with a couple of critics. One criticizes out of not knowing how else to interact with people and the other person will criticize and not realize it. I have learned how to cope and deal with their criticism. If it gets to be too much, I will discuss it with the second critic. This will most often end up in him apologizing and trying to be more conscious of his criticisms.0 Pixie Dust

I seem to be my own worst critic. I have it pretty good at home, I'm harder on myself than anyone here.
In my jobs, I am in service type jobs and it is easy for everyone to feel as if they are my boss. It seems easy for others to be critical. It makes it harder when it comes in waves (it sometimes seems like tsunamis, LOL) I have to remind myself what I am doing these jobs for and Who I am doing them for and not take it personal.0 Pixie Dust

sometime it makes you look at yourself and sometime it bounce back at the other person. Like when Ii park my van in a disable spot some one looks at me funny this is before I even get back into my chair in the back. But once I get in my chair and open up my slidiing door and ramp that person realize what they were feeling and look away or just smile.0 Pixie Dust
