(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

A good day for goals
Crowded classrooms and half-day sessions are a tragic waste of our greatest national resource - the minds of our children.
Walt Disney
I'm sure that this quote from Walt is hard to interpret, since it is out of context, but I can relate to this thought in the sense that education is often not helping our students to reach their goals.
Today, after a visit to the library computer room with the skilled help of the librarian, my whole class walked out with a draft of their citation page in the proper format.
They were actually excited! The cool college dudes especially surprised me when they exchanged high fives, whooped, and commented that they'd gotten through their entire high school education without ever doing a bibliography, reference, or a citation page.
It seems that high school teachers reprimand, take a few grades off, but the librarian commented that somehow alot of students make it to college without actually completing that last page of their term paper that lists their sources.
But today the WHOLE CLASS did it! We were both just as excited as the students!
I felt great all the way home.
I think that I am reaching in all directions to see just what it is that reaches people and inspires them.
Maybe some of the ways I've tried this year have fallen like a ton of bricks. Maybe some have worked for little bits of time.
But today I got to see honest excitement for something accomplished, and it made me feel like leaving the house was pretty worth it.
I doubt that today's lesson will change anyone's life or make any real difference, but there was something about the whole class moving forward, especially during the difficult parts of the job, that was wonderful.
Sometimes the best thing an education can do is keep you moving when you are ready to give up.
If my goal is to work with others with their goals, today was a good day!
And THAT'S today's entry!
