(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Slow ice, blinding snow, and losing the gold.
I suppose my formula might be: dream, diversify and never miss an angle.
Walt Disney
Sometimes, no matter how well you've prepared, conditions beyond your control are going to get in the way.
The luge track was showing the effects of the sun and melting just enough to slow the athletes in addition to the modifications that were made for safety. One athlete commented that it was not fun anymore.
The Biathlon, an event that combines skiing and shooting, was a nightmare of injustice as the weather interfered with just about anyone starting at the middle of the race. You could see the picture go from clear skies to rain to the thick snow that seems to weigh you down. Then, as quick as it started, the skies cleared up. Tim Burke, who'd hoped for a medal, ended up finishing 47th, commenting to reporters that the race was unfair.
Melting snow, rain, sun...you name it! Conditions turned some events into a gamble. No amount of practice of planning could have prepared for all the angles of the weather conditions.
I've been thinking about the way sometimes you can be lucky and sometimes you can be unlucky. When it comes to most of my dreams and goals, I've been pretty lucky, but a very few of my dreams and goals have been unfairly interrupted or complicated, like those Olympic events.
Today, I'm spending time thinking about how I just can't ever have all my bases covered. Sometimes I just have to be that person sliding on the soft ice or trying to shoot at a target in blinding snow.
I've been thinking...could I keep my spirits up if I didn't get the gold? Especially if it isn't "fair".
I'm not real sure if I'm grown up enough to do it, but it seems like it would be pretty necessary in life!

You always ask the hard questions!
I've managed to Forest Gump my way through so many accomplishments, that I just can't even answer that question.
Like Forest's braces and the resulting teasing that led him to develop his running skills, I can only admit that the obstacles have brought out what is good and strong in me.
Is it a plan or just the fact that I believe even the most insignificant object, the most tragic circumstance, or the most flat-lined personality still has value? When you put your faith in that, you search and shoot until you hit some sort of target.
That's too deep for me, so I'll just quote Forest.
I don't know if we each have a destiny, or we're all just floating accidental-like in the breeze. But I think, maybe it's both. Maybe both is happening at the same time."0 Pixie Dust

I know that no plan goes as planned so sometimes it is best to just prepare the best that u can.0 Pixie Dust

Welcome to the blog! Great points Kyle and Samanta.
Kyle, I think that recognizing that something needs to be changed is the first step.
The next step, preparing the best you can and then admitting that it might not work anyway, is the next step.
Reminds me of this:
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I can't change.
The courage to change the things I can.
And the wisdom to know the difference.0 Pixie Dust
