(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Back to Walt's Way!
The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.” - Walt Disney
I like this quote, and I think this attitude explains why Walt was the backbone of a magical movement that lives on years after his death.
I want to spend some time looking into this particular aspect of Walt's personality.
Let's first take a look at an important fact. With most projects, there MUST be some element of talking, or planning. There HAS to be that phase where you form the idea in your mind, hash out some details, and CREATE!
That, in fact, is the best part of a project for me. I love playing with ideas in my head and watching the associations and inspirations explode like sparkling fireworks.
It is like the adult version of twirling in circles for no reason but the fun of it! It is like being sent to the dessert buffet before you learned about calories! It is like that mood where you just giggle to yourself because you are so delighted you can't suppress it! Yes, playing with ideas is the Nirvana area in my mental sandbox.
Very often, though, I'm so happy and content with the after-sparkle, that the drive to move forward and actually do the work and create that project is not as compelling.
Oh, I've managed to finish so many things that people often ask where I got the time. If there is a hard deadline, a promise to someone who is depending on me, or someone acting as a task-master, I rarely fail. But so many great projects have never quite been finished, even when just a FRACTION of time put into dreaming could have closed the deal.
What bothers me is that, I believe, the most creative and unique projects are the ones that are left undone, because those are like hacking through jungle brush to create a new trail. It is hard work and a new surprise every step of the way.
And this is where someone like Walt Disney inspires me. He created the Personal Pixie Dust Mecca for countless people from his own mental musings. I wish he were alive so I could ask him just how he managed to keep himself and those who worked with him moving?
But, maybe we can just explore that in our own lives and try to learn from Walt's example.
Are you like me? Do you sometimes have trouble transitioning from talking to doing?
Today, I am going to spend my day trying to locate the mental switch that can get me there.

Question Sandy, What if you are in the middle of doing something and the light bulb goes off that your actions can be bigger/better than what you planned? There the action came first, then the talking.... When I fed the homeless in Miami, my actions spawned me doing more... At the time I only had enough food on me to give to two people, but there were at least 15-20 other people that were there.... I had to go back and get more food.... So, I ended up starting a foundation out of my home and a "soup kitchen" and made it a weekly committment to feed people and pass out personal hygiene items and clothes .... that went on until I moved.... but that one action created something... a lot of people got fed, people saw what I did, and came to help -which led to others being helped...and so on... Just a question, LOL.0 Pixie Dust

I am so impressed by what you accomplished, orionchika!! I often get stuck in the planning / thinking stage. I have many, many big, wonderful ideas and sometimes I have a hard time seeing them through to fruition. That said, I have accomplished many of things I've envisioned. I find that I do better by breaking things down into short term goals or components of the bigger task.0 Pixie Dust

Well done! I would have found myself getting sucked into something else when I got home. I am great with ideas, but real low on motivation.

Aaron, is it really motivation or being able to figure out the next step to make an idea a reality that gets you?0 Pixie Dust
