Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)

This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.

I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.

I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Broken treasures clogging up space

One of the unfortunate things about blogging every day for a year is that sometimes your head is in a wierd place. I got a PM from a PassPorter this week, and it got me to thinking. Today I'm thinking about broken treasures.

I had bought all five of the Disney Christmas lawn ornaments a few years ago. Well, somehow, the Minnie was smashed to smitherines in the basement. Looked like something from the slasher movie Saw. It was kind-of a shocking sight!

I started looking for a replacement several months ago, with no success. Last night I searched ebay, but could not find one. I don't think Disney makes them anymore so that, as they say, is that.

I think everyone has dealt with broken treasures at one point or another. They are the material things that meant something to us and, for one reason or another, they ended up in pieces.

I think that the way treasures meet their demise has alot to do with how we react, though. People lose their treasures in natural disasters or fires. They might lose them when a curious cat decides to knock them over onto the floor. Maybe age just got the best of them, Maybe they are lost from carelessness. Or maybe someone destroyed treasures intentionally without thinking or to teach a lesson.

Each method of destruction carries it's own sub-message. Maybe it is to be more careful. Maybe it is to move someplace that is safer. Maybe it is to take better care of your things. Or maybe it is to remember that if you put too much of your heart into things, you are taking a risk.

I've been kind-of exploring the less sparkly side of setting and achieving goals as the year closes, and I think being aware of broken treasures is important.

The broken treasures in your goals are the ways or systems that really no longer work, for one reason or another, but you can't let go of them. Maybe you keep looking for something that is no longer there, like a Minnie Mouse statue that is not made any more. Maybe you keep useless files or broken objects around because they once meant something to you. Maybe the broken treasures are old habits or ways of thinking that are strangely comfortable because they are "you" but which don't serve you any more.

Today I got rid of an old typewriter that I had since high school. I loved that typewriter and typed my first published poems on it. It is truly a treasure to me. But it is big, you can't get typewriter ribbons for it, and I don't even think it works any more. So I got rid of it. And I like the space it created.

I'm spending the days reorganizing my systems for billing and documenting. (I am self-employed but, unfortunately, my boss is an idiot!)

And I'm going to really work to purge those old ways and things that no longer really serve a purpose or that just plain don't work any longer. I'm going to stop looking for things that can't be found like statues that are out of production. I'm going to let go of things that really don't make sense like typewriters that are obsolete. And, mainly, I'm going to try and foster even more courage, even more focus, and even more hope by sweeping out some of the broken thinking that slows me down.

I feel like that will leave more room for better ways.

As the year comes to a close, can you try to locate a few broken treasures that you need to let go of?

Funny how you say that, In a passage I have read it says if you let go, things can come your way better or maybe if trust that there is something better out there and you let go of your own selfish desire of how you want it to happen then things can't go wrong. Yes it very hard to let go of a lot of thing because we buried it so much into our heart and when it get broken or get torn away from us it HURTS. So like most of us we are afraid to be HURT so that way I think we can't let go as easy. I love my cousin and her daughters, when I was with them last Christmas I start to put her daughters in my heart deep but I had to remember that they don't live close to me, so I couldn't go deeper. But the night I had to go back home and on the train it was already deep and it was like a big poll out of my heart and I had to get over the love that one of them was giving me (we are so much alike almost in every way). Also I wanted to take care of her myself, If I was near her. So yes it hurts in a way but a good hurt. I told my self to let go since I'm not near them and all. I can do is send them the love. Since I let go it easier to Email them and mail them stuff. So letting go will make thing easier in the long run.

Todd, that was a really hearfelt comment. I'm so sorry that you feel hurt by that.

You can have good relationships with people who live far away, especially these days.It sounds like your treasures (your cousin and her daughters) are just not nearby-not broken.

You may need to let go of having them close by in person, but there are plenty of other ways to be close.

Some of my closest friends are very far away.

I have to remind myself, especially if I'm thinking about material treasures lost, (sentimental ones) like photos, scrapbook things, etc... These items although I may have treasured them and they have had a part in forming who I am, that the loss of them does not take anything away. Their subtraction can't remove the memories not totally, nor do they take from me what I gained while making that memory. Make sense?

Makes perfect sense. Someone sent this to me. It is perfect!

    CALMNESS IN OUR LIVES

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works and we could
all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple
advice heard on the Oprah show, you too can find inner peace.

Dr. Oz proclaimed, ' The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all
the things you have started and have never finished.'

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and
hadn't finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished
off a bottle of White Zinfandel, a bottle of Tequila, a package of
Oreos, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the
cheesecake, some Doritos, and a box of chocolates. You have no idea
how freaking good I feel right now.

Pass this on if you know anyone you think might be in need of inner
    peace.

yeah I do need to let go of somethings I can't control. Oh well we can help each other right to let things go.

After New Years I will have to take my Christmas stuff down and I have short through others ones I didn't use and give them away, that I have to remember I got to let go to some of them to make room in my apartment.

So it's just eerie Woman!! Get out of my head! It seems everytime you blog... it was only hours prior it came up in my life!
Today, I started flipping through canvases long painted, posted, unsold, hung, stored, etc. As far back as 2003. I was sick then, got better, had my love Alice, opened Angie's Attic... so I sent an email today to all on my Artist Mailing List that specific pieces were going to be recycled and repainted. I gave everyone an idea of the pieces and about a week or so and will give a follow up reminder before hand.
It was so long ago that to even look at these painting, I either feel nothing AT ALL... or too much to deal with.
So, start fresh, recycle... and no one will know that underneath a future painting lies a past of mine.
So a new year bring new art, new thoughts and "New Adventures"... and especially... even though still complete strangers... very awesome new friends!!
Thanks Sandy... cheers to year that wrapped up on a better note than it started... I never would have guessed that one of the strongest... influencial people in my life... I have never even met...
    Happy New Years everyone... G'nite!
