Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.

I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.

I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

I am a rock, but I am no island.

You just can't please everyone- but you might make everyone (including yourself) nuts if you try!

I could find some way to tangentially relate this comment to Walt Disney, but I'll let the Disney theme slide for the moment. The legend that I do seem to relate this thought to is Sisyphus, the Greek God who was cursed to roll a big boulder up a hill over and over again. Every time he got close to the top, though, the boulder would roll back down the hill. And this process would be repeated throughout all eternity.

And this seems to be how a project will go if you allow yourself toget too caught up in people's opinions or feelings about what you are doing.

Sometimes the best plan you can have when you are finishing a project is to let go of how people might respond to the final product. Then let go of your own critical voice. Just decide "I've done all I can do in the time alloted and this, respectfully, is about as good as it is going to be."

I think I learned this by watching someone's example recently, and it looks like a great approach! He said something like "OK, it looks like this is done now, and I can move on to other projects?" When he said that, I could feel a release, and I wanted that same feeling!

There is something so wonderful about saying "It's done." and feeling free to move on.

When a project keeps going in circles, it can be like a Sysyphean process. Every few steps forward would result in the big rock rolling right over you.

And, since a big rock hurts when it rolls over you, you can feel pretty stunned.

But, with this last project I just finished, I've seen what it is like to have someone help me push that rock up the hill. Maybe it starts to roll down, but there is someone else to help stop it. Or maybe that someone just gave me the "Keep going" that I needed.

Or, maybe I finally figured out that the rock that rolls down that hill every time is actually me.

Some daunting tasks really leave you feeling like you are a rock! There have been a few hills that have seemed impossible to climb, and I've felt very much like Sisyphus, doomed to failure each time I try.

I don't know what makes a task daunting. Maybe it is just hard to figure out. Maybe someone keeps sabataging you. Maybe you sabatage yourself.

But something feels different now.

I don't think I was using all my resources. I don't think I had that great feeling of finishing something well in my recent memory. I forgot that I've already pushed a pile of rocks just about the size of this one up the hill.

I think all I could remember is that rock falling down the hill over and over again. When it happens enough you forget everything else.

I forgot that I am not Sysyphus or the rock. Of course I can do it!

When you have empowering people who support the journey, any hill is possible. You may have to let someone help, though.

I may still be a rock with a few things I need to get done, but I think I am done being an island.

You know as someone being in a wheelchair sometimes I feel like an island the way people who don't know me treat me. They sometime don't how to respond to me until they come on to this island, meaning they start talking to me and stuff. Then they fine out I'm not a plan old island (disable person). I'm a rock that has a strong will to do things. So don't be afraid to get close to an island you never know what's on it

What a great comment! So much to think about on so many levels. I've worked around alot of wheelchairs, so I think that, after a while, you don't see them. It is sort-of like not noticing someone's shoes.

And I would consider you much more "abled" than quite a few people I can think of who are not on wheels.

I think that sometimes it's also OK- to break the rock into smaller pebbles to get them up the hill....?

Really good point! I think that is what adversity does, now that you mention it. We think we are all put-together, and then trouble comes and shatters us. I never thought about it, but maybe the shattering is good for exactly the reason you mentioned.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Thanks for the cool insight!

Just a thought.... There are some Massively large rock structures that people have built beautiful "towns" on.... and some rocks have been recognized to be great "foundations" - ( ..on a solid rock I stand.... from a Christian hymn...) so if you are a rock - [you go girl, ] and you get other friends that are rocks around you together....what do you have....an island.....!!!

I like the commercial where a whole bunch of boats pull up and start throwing rocks into the ocean until they build an island for a big party. Has anyone seen it?

Remember the passage, if you build a house on sand the house will claps and blow away, but if you build a house on a rock the house will stand up against the storm. So if we are a rock even in peaces we are still strong we just put our self together with love and so forth.
