Forums Closed
As of January 1, 2019, we have closed our forums. This is a decision we did not come to lightly, but it is necessary. The software our forums run on is just too out-of-date and it poses a significant security risk. The server software itself must be updated, and it cannot be without removing the forums.

So it is with a heavy heart that we say goodbye to our long-running forums. They came online in 2000 and brought together so many wonderful Disney fans. We had friendships form, careers launch, couples marry, children born ... all because of this amazing community.

Thank you to each of you who were a part of this community. You made it possible.

And a very special thank you to our Guides (moderators), past and present, who kept our forums a happy place to be. You are the glue that held everything together, and we are forever grateful to you. Thank you aliceinwdw, Caldercup, MrsM, WillCAD, Fortissimo, GingerJ, HiddenMickey, CRCrazy, Eeyoresmom, disneyknut, disneydani, Cam22, chezp, WDWfan, Luvsun, KMB733, rescuesk, OhToodles!, Colexis Mom, lfredsbo, HiddenMickey, DrDolphin, DopeyGirl, duck addict, Disneybine, PixieMichele, Sandra Bostwick, Eeyore Tattoo, DyanKJ130, Suzy Q'Disney, LilMarcieMouse, AllisonG, Belle*, Chrissi, Brant, DawnDenise, Crystalloubear, Disneymom9092, FanOfMickey, Goofy4Goofy, GoofyMom, Home4us123, iamgrumpy, ilovedisney247, Jennifer2003, Jenny Pooh, KrisLuvsDisney, Ladyt, Laughaholic88, LauraBelle Hime, Lilianna, LizardCop, Loobyoxlip, lukeandbrooksmom, marisag, michnash, MickeyMAC, OffKilter_Lynn, PamelaK, Poor_Eeyore, ripkensnana, RobDVC, SHEANA1226, Shell of the South, snoozin, Statelady01, Tara O'Hara, tigger22, Tink and Co., Tinkerbelz, WDWJAMBA, wdwlovers, Wendyismyname, whoSEZ, WildforWD, and WvuGrrrl. You made the magic.

We want to personally thank Sara Varney, who coordinated our community for many years (among so many other things she did for us), and Cheryl Pendry, our Message Board Manager who helped train our Guides, and Ginger Jabour, who helped us with the PassPorter-specific forums and Live! Guides. Thank you for your time, energy, and enthusiasm. You made it all happen.

There are other changes as well.

Why? Well, the world has changed. And change with it, we must. The lyrics to "We Go On" for IllumiNations say it best:

We go on to the joy and through the tears
We go on to discover new frontiers
Moving on with the current of the years.
We go on
Moving forward now as one
Moving on with a spirit born to run
Ever on with each rising sun.
To a new day, we go on.

It's time to move on and move forward.

PassPorter is a small business, and for many years it supported our family. But the world changed, print books took a backseat to the Internet, and for a long time now it has been unable to make ends meet. We've had to find new ways to support our family, which means new careers and less and less time available to devote to our first baby, PassPorter.

But eventually, we must move on and move forward. It is the right thing to do.

So we are retiring this newsletter, as we simply cannot keep up with it. Many thanks to Mouse Fan Travel who supported it all these years, to All Ears and MousePlanet who helped us with news, to our many article contributors, and -- most importantly -- to Sara Varney who edited our newsletter so wonderfully for years and years.

And we are no longer charging for the Live Guides. If you have a subscription, it's yours to keep for the lifetime of the Live Guides at no additional cost. The Live Guides will stay online, barring server issues and technical problems, for all of 2019.

That said, PassPorter is not going away. Most of the resources will remain online for as long as we can support them, and after that we will find ways to make whatever we can available. PassPorter means a great deal to us, and to many of you, and we will do our best to keep it alive in whatever way we can. Our server costs are high, and they'll need to come out of our pockets, so in the future you can expect some changes so we can bring those costs down.

Thank you, thank you, thank you for your amazing support over the years. Without you, there's no way us little guys could have made something like this happen and given the "big guys" a run for their money. PassPorter was consistently the #3 guidebook after the Unofficial and Official guides, which was really unheard of for such a small company to do. We ROCKED it thanks to you and your support and love!

If you miss us, you can still find some of us online. Sara started a new blog at DisneyParkPrincess.com -- I strongly urge you to visit and get on her mailing list. She IS the Disney park princess and knows Disney backward and forward. And I am blogging as well at JenniferMaker.com, which is a little craft blog I started a couple of years ago to make ends meet. You can see and hear me in my craft show at https://www.youtube.com/c/jennifermaker . Many PassPorter readers and fans are on Facebook, in groups they formed like the PassPorter Trip Reports and PassPorter Crafting Challenge (if you join, just let them know you read about it in the newsletter). And some of our most devoted community members started a forum of their own at Pixie Dust Lane and all are invited over.

So we encourage you to stay in touch with us and your fellow community members wherever works best for you!

Best wishes for a wonderful and magical new year!

This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.

I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.

I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Somehow, I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.
Walt Disney

Do you ever wonder if you have the guts to do what needs to be done? Or, do you to do what NEEDS to be done, but can't quite muster the courage to try what you might WANT to do?

Do you need just a bit more courage to really pursue your dreams?

There are so many reasons for holding back. Some of the reasons are good ones.

It's a stupid idea.
You might get hurt.
You are being selfish.
There is no way you'll ever be able to do that!
You could poke someones eye out.

Those could be valid reasons to give up on a dream. There are as many good reasons for giving up as there are dreams.

The problem is, though, sometimes just a little bit of courage can cast your why-nots in a whole new light.

Maybe a little courage could change your impossible dream into a long shot? Maybe you can use your negative thinking as a blueprint for the barriers you'll need to jump over. Maybe that image of failure is a map of the stinkin thinkin blocks that you'll have to get around?

I say maybe because there really ARE good reasons why a sane person might not pursue a dream. I'm short and not good at sports...as well as not even slightly interested. If I set a goal to become a basketball player, all the courage in the world, I'm sure, wouldn't get me there. If I set a goal to become a swimsuit model, there would be good reasons why I shouldn't quit my day job.

But, barring the obvious absolute truths, alot of the reasons why we can't go after our dreams are just a reflection of the beliefs that need a shot of courage.

So, for today, let's look at dreams. They may be related to a project or they may be general.

Where in your life could you use a little courage?

Can you find a more empowered way to view the situation? The reframing blog at the link below might help.

"Angie; there is no way you could handle child birth!"
"Angie; there is no way you could drive to Disney by yourself!"
"Angie; there is no way you could handle getting a tattoo"
"Angie; there is no way you could get a driver's licence"
After so many years of hearing whaty I cannot or should not do, I have actually trained my self to respond with the same attitute
"I can't do that... that's why I am just an artist"
So I got my licence at 30, never got a tattoo, sat in tyhe back seat all the way to Disney... BUT had my beautiful Alice... 9lb 2oz by the way!
Then I meet someone... a friend... that makes me feel as needed as I have been led to believe I need everyone.
I am being thanked, I am being depended on, I am being relyed on... and I have never held my head higher as a business person and artist. This is the closest I have come to believe that I can be the Artist I want to be! And it could actually happen.
So I am being brave, and taking a business trip to Disney... whaty I consider SOLO, flying by myself, saying good bye to my Alice... and seeing what I CAN do if I just hit "SEND" and see what happens...

I have deleted two different paragraphs on thoughts relating to these questions, so I guess I am afraid of sounding stupid, maybe of revealing part of me that I'm not sure I want others to see; especially people that I don't even know and they don't know me. I am however a more confident person than I use to be and see how much happier I am for having learned that no one or nothing is perfect and I don't have to be either. Don't expect the impossible and be mad at yourself for not accomplishing whatever that impossiblity is.

    (Here I am)

I think that is smart! I see some of the things that people reveal online and I just want to help them find their edit button. I think what you said is a good lesson for everyone!

What you said Angie sound like my father sometimes, he so afraid for me to go anywhere out of the area like to DL by myself. I always have to prove to him I could do it. But Because things kinda got miss up when I did do on my own it made him more afraid for me traveling alone. I did almost got stuck up there two year ago trying to get back to the train station. Here where I had to relie others to get places made it harder for me to achieve my dream. For me I have to convince people around me that I wouldn't get stuck some were if I am a lone. But the dream to be able to go somewhere with out anything happening is almost not going to happen because I can't get in to any bus or car. But my goal is to figure out how to travel at ease. Maybe with my new van it will be a little easier as long I make it is in good condition. Make sure I know someone at the other end of my traveling place in case I do get in a jam. Sometime we have to work really hard to make that dream come through but we must set goals for it to happen and iron out all the bumps that can block it from happening, more for me the other who are able bodies.

Hey, Todd, none of us is an island. It is kind-of good that you've perfected the art of working with others the way you have. It is alot worse when someone does not know how to ask for help and gets stuck.

I really enjoy the wisdom in your posts!

I'd like to add, if I may.... another reason people hold back.... FEAR!!! I went through a really bad and traumatic experience where I was sexually assaulted and I was AFRAID to face the person in court... but through prayer (I prayed for strength) I survived and was even blessed with the strength to help others in similar situations.... I was even able for a time help hide a friend in an abusive relationship - (she and the unborn child were eventually murdered by her ex, when she decided to go back to him after he proclaimed to have enrolled into rehab) there are many times where we feel like an "island" but if it weren't for the many, many friends, well wishes, prayers (all rocks) my island would only be big enough for me to sit on.... but because of the "rocks", I can travel wherever.... My island is now big enough to have a few vacation spots on it... KUDOS to you Angie... you are such the inspiration!!!! I'd love to see some of your work!!!! To Goofeme.... I don't think you could sound stupid for voicing what you feel... I think that this blog allows us to say what we pretty much want without someone pointing a finger or thinking of you otherwise... and Todd, you are such a strong spirit.... You definitely have encouraged more people than you will even realize!... and to Sandy, I hope this doesn't make you want to hit the edit button.... Namaste to you all.....

I'm still a little weak, but I am definitely feeling better and I was able to eat something.

    This discussion is REALLY awesome!

I love the comments on fear.

So, what is the recipe for being fearless!

Todd... you are are welcome... Well Sandy... I have no recipe, but remember back when you talked about giving and receiving? I believe some main ingredients can be found in there.... Allowing yourself to be helped (taking)... when you realize how many people surround and support you (love) and you realize that you are NOT alone (your rocks)... that in itself gives you the strength to not have fear... and adds to the growth of your island...

Sometimes, this blog reminds me of school in that you'll read your assignment and learn from it... then after a period of time has past...you get an A-HA moment... There have been several "lessons" from this blog, that have come full circle and have come to play in other comments... notice that? Much like life.... you learn things in different orders, but then when life just happens.... Bam!!! Now it makes a whole lot more sense -(not that it didn't make sense when it happened)

Interesting that you said that. I was just thinking about how following through with writing a blog entry each day has highlighted some of the cycles that occur for me. For example, there is a definite pattern.

    lost...lost...floundering...whining...AHA

    lost...lost...meandering...aimlessness...DIRECTION

    lost...lost...lack-of-clarity...faithlessness...BELIEF

I've never had the opportunity to recognize that this is my thought and learning process.

I wonder if anyone else can relate to that.
