(This is Main Street by Angie, who is working on art goals here on the blog!)
This has been a personal project to blog every day for a school year on goals and dreams. My hope was that I could find a group of people to work with me.
I was lucky enough to find a small, but sincere group of inspirational people to keep me company. We've been using Walt Disney's philosophies or creations as inspiration.
I am no longer blogging daily, but I am notified if comments are posted, and I'll be happy to keep the discussion going!

Still on Constancy
Posted 10-12-2009 at 02:06 PM by Sandra Bostwick
Somehow, I can't believe that there are any heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secrets of making dreams come true. This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four Cs. They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy, and the greatest of all is confidence. When you believe in a thing, believe in it all the way, implicitly and unquestionably.
Walt Disney
I'm still on the constancy "C" of Walt's quote.
First of all, thank you SO much, those who posted. I really do appreciate that, as it gives the illusion that there actually IS a group participating with this blog! (Seriously, though, I DO thank you!)
OK, I'm taking just a little time here to blog on how constancy is important when working toward a goal or a project.
I googled constancy and I found definitions like faithfulness, steadfastness, consistency. It makes me think of following through with what you say you will do and being dependable.
SO, here is my daily blog!
I am bleary eyed because I stayed up all night with my sick cat, but I'll try my best.
If constancy is all those things I mentioned above, if I am honest, the individual I fall short with most of the time is myself.
I'm constantly promising myself I'll do this or that. Sometimes the this is something I WANT to do or sometimes the that is something I SHOULD do, but I need to really think about what happens when I let MYSELF down!
Do you sometimes have trouble following through with the things you promise yourself?
Today, as I get my work done, I'm going to really think about the things I've told myself I would do. Are they really important? Do I have a logical plan? Do they empower my overall goal or just get in the way?
Should I stop blogging and get back to my stuff?
YUP!
Carry on and, again, THANKS FOR POSTING!

To anyone who looks at this or anyone who posts, I want to say "Thank you!". It is amazing how a group, even one you don't see, can be such a motivator.
On the subject of constancy and following through, I finished a recommendation letter that I'd wanted to writer for a professor who was nominated for a special award.
I owed her a debt of thanks for being a great mentor, but putting my thoughts into words always left me feeling perplexed.
Well, after this blog, I just sat myself down, wrote the letter, and sent it in. It turns out that my letter had an angle that none of the other letters touched upon, because i was the only new professor she mentored. (OK, to be honest, you can replace the word mentor with the phrase talked me off a ledge!)
Anyway, I am really happy that I followed through with that, and I'm happy that I can report it to you.
Writing a blog is like that imaginary friend you had when you were a kid sometimes!
People wonder who you are talking to, but, in your heart, you KNOW someone is listening! Even if it just turns out to be another side of yourself.
Oh, and, Betty, I hope you win the honor of professor emerita. You deserve it!0 Pixie Dust
