iPhone, I Travel: Take Your Trip to the Next Level with iPhone
In the last three decades, three tools have changed my life: the Apple Macintosh computer in the late '80s, the Internet in the early '90s, and now the iPhone. Yeah, I know it sounds corny, but it's true. The iPhone is a unique combination of the two tools that empower me -- a personal computer and the Internet -- wrapped up in a small, easy-to-use, intuitive device that I can carry with me practically everywhere I go.
I'm so in love with the way my iPhone empowers me that I want to tell the world about it. Last time I felt this way, I became an author to share my passions (and most of you know where that's lead me). This time I'll be content with a blog. Perhaps the information on this page will make you seriously consider an iPhone. Or maybe you already have one and are looking for help making the most of it on your trip. Then again, maybe you've just seen me carrying my iPhone around everywhere I go and want to know why I'm such a geek. Now you'll know! (And just in case you're worrying about me, I'm not alone in my love for the iPhone -- the iPhone is Time Magazine's "Invention of the Year.")
This blog is the place to get short articles and tips on using the iPhone while travelling. And to demonstrate how amazing the iPhone is, I'll be writing and submitting all of these articles on my iPhone itself, while I'm away from my computer and/or travelling. Please check back for more each day!

iPhone as a Travel Alarm Clock - Creative Tips
Posted 12-15-2007 at 12:34 PM by Jennifer Marx
You can do some really cool things when you use an iPhone as your travel alarm clock:
Pre-Set Wake-Up Alarms Before You Go
You can set many different alarms and SAVE them for future use. If you were really organized before your trip, you could pre-set the necessary wake-up time for each day of your trip, save it with a custom label (i.e., Dec 10 - Pooh Breakfast), and then just use each alarm on the appropriate day of your trip without having to double-check times. I've never seen a traditional alarm clock that can do that!
Choose Alarm Sounds that Make Sense
I personally hate to wake up to alarms, even when there's something to look forward to that day. I just can't recall WHY I want to get up when I'm so sleepy. So I choose alarm sounds (ringtones) that remind me why I set the alarm and this really helps me! There's 25 sounds included with the iPhone (at the time of writing), and you can add more as ringtones via the iTunes Store. For example, I set my alarm sound for a Magic Kingdom park day as "Old Car Horn," which reminds me of the Main Street Vehicles.
Snooze Easier
If you like to hit the Snooze button, here's an alternate way to Snooze your iPhone: push the Sleep button on the top of your iPhone. Personally, I find this much easier to find than a button on the screen, no matter how big the button is. (But then again maybe you WANT the Snooze button to require some effort.)
Turn On Multiple Alarms
Worried about waking in the morning after an late night of Extra Magic Hours? Create two or more alarms, offset by 2-3 minutes, and turn them on. You'll have alarms going off every 2-3 minutes until you turn them off.
Pump Up the Volume
If you're a deep sleeper, it's possible the iPhone's alarm won't wake you. (Be sure to try it at home before you travel.) If this is the case, consider a portable alarm clock that works with iPhone, like iHome iH26B Portable Alarm Clock or iHome Portable Sport Case. I use an iHome clock at home for it's great sound quality and charging capabilities.
