We live in Massachusetts and where I am located we have access to several airports within an hour or drive. As we want to maximize our first day on vacation, we want to leave as early as possible. The thought leaving the house at 4:00 am to catch an early flight with a young child isn't all that appealing. I found that flying out of Boston we would have paid $300 more total than out of another local airport due to higher airport fees. For a fraction of the $300, I booked a room at a hotel right next to that airport the night before, and setting the alarm for 5:00 am instead of 4:00 am gives us an hour more of sleep! This gives us a jump start on our vacation and makes it a little less stressful getting there!
