    You Discovered a PassPorter Tip!

Disney Cruise Line Tip #1557 - Cruising Tips from a Kid

At level 3, you can mark this tip as a favorite!
I am 11 years old and have sailed on the Magic and Wonder 11 times including Eastern and Western Carrib, 3 nighter, 4 nighter, 2 Panama canal crossings, Europe , and a transatlantic crossing. I started sailing at 5 years old. Here are the things I think will help to have fun. 1. If you want your hair braded on the ship, sign up right after the emergency boat drill. This will give you a good appointment and then you won't have to worry about your hair for the cruise as the braids keep it neat. Be sure to put sunscreen on the parts between the braids. A stick works better than liquid. 2. Read the kids club activities and pick what interests you. If you go too much you will feel like you are in school or camp. The first night is important to meet sailers your age. Making flubber is great! Also, don't be afraid to ask to have your parents beeped if you want to leave. The older I get, the less time I spend in the club. 3.GET UP EARLY on Castaway Cay day!!! I always get up early and have been the first one off the boat many times. I have even been picked to help clear the boat and check the x-ray machines with one of the officers. I got to help him place a fake gun on the machine and see it on the monitor. I then got to get off the ship first. Also, if you get off the Ship too late, the tide may have changed and the playground at the family beach gets closed. (I can't wait for the new one because it isn't supposed to close with the tide). 4. If your old enough to walk around the ship alone, like I am now, make sure to know where your family is. My aunt always sits in the same spot by the family pool so I know where to find her. We used to use walkie talkies, but I'm old enough now to go without them. I still have to check in every hour if I'm not in an organized kids activity. We have a system to leave notes in the room with a time on them in case we get confused where to go. 5.Keep cool with free ice cream and soda. Its awesome. 6. Brush up on the Disney movies. There are many family games that use Disney themes such as Mickey Mania. Play, its a lot of fun. 7. Get to the shows early. The Walt Disney theatre gets crowded and sometimes its hard for small kids to see. 8. Ask the casst members, workers, for anything if you are confused or lost. They are all so nice! 9. Make magnets with pictures of your family and a mail box called a fishhanger for the door. People like to look at all the fun things on doors.
