    General Travel Tip #23563 - Rock, Paper, Scissors, Ride!

    My kids were 4 & 6 when we first went to Disney. One hot day we were standing in Fantasyland and the kids were arguing over who got to choose the next ride. I got the idea to have them play Rock Paper Scissors and told them that the winner would get to choose the next ride and there would be no complaining from the non-winner. They did and it worked wonderfully. For the next week the kids used Rock Paper Scissors to make all kinds of decisions, from what to ride next, to where to eat, etc. They felt included in the planning process and I didn't have to listen to any more arguing. Five years later we are still using Rock Paper Scissors to settle arguments and make decisions, both on vacations and at home.
