General Travel Tip #2345 - Keep Bedtime Routines

Remember to do your best to maintain your young child's bedtime routine when traveling. If your child is accustomed to having a story before bed, bring a couple of books with you (or download a few onto your iPad, iPhone, or Kindle). If they are used to having a nightlight or a flashlight, bring one with you. Remember to bring his/her snuggly, lovey, comfy, etc. And if there is something that your child is used to having at bed time that you CAN'T bring with you like a fan or ceiling fan, a sound machine, or a special pillow that just won't fit in your luggage, try to wean them off of it a few weeks before the trip. Children are more likely to get anxious about going to sleep in a strange place and if you've just taken away the one thing that comforts them, you're asking for a very long and unpleasant vacation.
