Disney Cruise Line Tip #2260 - Call Credit Card Companies Before Cruise

Be certain to call your credit card companies to let them know you will be leaving the country before you depart for your Disney cruise vacation, even if it’s only the three-night cruise to the Bahamas! We have traveled to out of the country many times before and have always called prior to leaving but for some reason we failed to call when we took our cruise to the Bahamas. We tried to use our Disney Visa credit card to pay for some pictures in Nassau and were denied, but we thought it was a connection problem. On the last day of our cruise we went to use our Rewards card and it, too, was denied. We tried calling Chase but they were closed (apparently they aren’t staffed on Sundays). We then tried using our Disney credit card—that was denied as well. We ended up using another card but it was annoying to know that we not only didn’t get to use the points we’d accumulated but that we weren’t going to get any points for what we’d just spent! If someone was really relying on using either points or a certain credit card, it could be more than just annoying—it could really cause problems.
