Walt Disney World Tip #1453 - Disney Fun in Difficult Times

We have been going to Disney every two years since our first trip in 2005. During our trip in 2009 we decided we wouldn't wait two years to go back next time. We were all excited to get home and start planning our next trip. Unfortunately things didn't quite work out as expected. My husband lost his job the week we got back from Disney World. Our Disney trips are very important to us because my husband worked a lot, and didn't get much time off on a regular basis. Disney was the one week that we had him all to ourselves. No phone calls and no work and we loved it. My husband has found a job, but the pay is not nearly what he was making. Our two children 7 and 11 have been great through all of this. For two very spoiled children that is saying a lot. 2009 was not a great year, other than our Disney trip so I decided to start this year out all things Disney. For New Year's Day we had foods that we had at Disney restaurants over the past few years. We sat at the table and as we ate we discussed planning our next disney trip. We decided that once a month we will have a disney planning party. I will find disney recipes or recipes of foods from disney hotel and park restaurants. Then we will eat, watch movies and make decisions about our trip. Our first one will be next weekend to pick a hotel to stay in. We are doing this first so we know how much we need to save for our trip. Some nights we will discuss what restaurants we'd like to go back to and which new ones we'd like to try. Some nights we'll discuss rides. Every night will have a specific topic. I'm even thinking maybe our second Disney World Planning Party topic should be "Ways we can save more money for Disneyworld." Our children who know we won't be going to Disney until at least 2011 are now totally excited. They know we don't have a definite timeline, but they don't care. They see the planning and they know it will happen and that's enough for them. I have to say after having such a rough year in 2009 we couldn't have had a better start to the new year than if we'd actually been at Disney World. Our new passporter is already going to very good use. Thank you so much, especially at a time when we could really use it. That's a little extra money we can put towards our trip!
