General Travel Tip #1879 - Bad Behavior Tolls

I read this tip along time ago in a parenting book and has worked for us for years. We travel to Walt Disney World by car from the northwest suburbs of Chicago once every year or so. It is a two day drive. We give each of our two kids a small container full of quarters. The amount is up to you, we started with $10.00 but as the kids get older we have raised it. Every time they misbehave or ask "are we there yet?" they have to give us one or two of the quarters (amount depends on the offense). Any money they have left once we get there is theirs to spend however they want at the parks. I think the most money I have gotten is about 75 cents. Last year I did not get any money from them. The kids are well behaved and you are not pulling out your hair. Best of all, it starts off your magical trip on the right foot. I have given this tip to several of my friends who use it even with flying, starting from the time they leave for the airport. It has worked for everyone that I know.
