    You Discovered a PassPorter Tip!

Walt Disney World Tip #1158 - Prep Your Preschoolers (Part 2)

At level 3, you can mark this tip as a favorite!
We have been to Walt Disney World several times now; however, I would like to give you a tip we learned the hard way when we took our daughters for their first trip. They were 8 and 4 at the time, and had already been to several amusement parks in our area. We were so excited to take them to the Magic Kingdom, but the first couple of hours there were TERRIBLE! They were afraid to ride EVERYTHING except for Dumbo and Cinderella's Carousel! They didn't want to ride The Many Adventures of Winnnie the Pooh, Peter Pan's Flight or even It's a Small World! Each time we would get in line they would cry and beg us not to make them ride. We couldn't figure it out! After much dispair, we finally realized that at most of the smaller amusement parks we had gone to, only the "haunted house" type rides were inside rides, and that all of the others were outdoors where they could see everything that was happening. Each time we tried to take them on an "inside" ride, they were certain it was going to be scary! After a few rides and MUCH reassuring, they started to have fun. So my tip is this... Please explain the rides to your young children BEFORE you arrive. Maybe show them pictures of the rides or even videos of what they will encounter. Take it from me, if your kids are anything like mine it will make a huge difference in the the way you spend your first few hours in the parks!
