    You Discovered a PassPorter Tip!

General Travel Tip #1917 - TSA Escort at Airport

At level 3, you can mark this tip as a favorite!
This one is geared towards injured soldiers, although anyone with a disability would benefit. My husband has suffered Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder resulting from a plane crash overseas. To the naked eye, he has nothing wrong with him. However, he has severe anxiety (still) around crowds and obviously about flying. Before our trip in April 2010, I called TSA and explained our situation. They had me call back a week before our trip with our flight itinerary. We were met at Kansas City and Orlando airports AT THE ENTRANCE by security guards to escort us through security. It was great to not have to worry about my husband "freaking out," for lack of a better term. We went through a seperate screening line in Orlando and was a very relaxed event. My husband had to travel with some high-potency medication to treat his symptoms also and even with the script and doctor's note in hand, was nice not to have to worry about being delayed. Please remember, they won't do this for everyone as this is a unique situation. But for those that would qualify, this is a great alternative.
