PassPorter.com Turns 15 2

On November 9, 1998, the PassPorter.com web site came online. That’s 15 years ago.

PassPorter was around before YouTube.com, Facebook.com, and MySpace.com. We survived GeoCities.com, Hotmail.com, and Borders.com (sob!). We started back in the Internet dark ages, folks. You can see what our web site looked like back here — click it and you can actually navigate around, if you dare!

PassPorter.com has come a long ways since those early days. We were a social media site long before the term “social media” came into accepted usage, encouraging the creation and exchange of user-generated content. Each new thing we’ve added since 1998, from our forums, articles, and photo archives to our videos, podcasts, and blogs, has been to create and foster community at PassPorter.com.

So I’d like to wish everyone in our community a happy 15th birthday! Thank you to all for making PassPorter.com the happiest place on the web.

Oh, and I want to point out that we’re still using the same font family, ITC Humana Sans (you can see it in use in the “PassPorter Online” graphic at the old web site). Apple has us beat at using Garamond for 18 years, but still. I’d like to think I learned my typography lesson well.
