Just a couple of days after I was thinking about Disney Vacation Club merchandise, and that it would be good to see some new items on offer, guess what I stumbled across? The Disney parks blog is showcasing all the new logoed merchandise you can get to proudly tell everyone you’re a DVC member.
With the new logo, unveiled for the Disney Vacation Club’s 20th anniversary, it was only a matter of time before that started to appear on a range of items. Amongst those highlighted on the Disney parks blog were T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, pins, and mugs.
I instantly liked what I saw.
I wasn’t so sure about the sweatshirt, with the words “Disney Vacation Club member”, and the new logo on it. It didn’t inspire me, with black on grey, not the liveliest of color schemes. However, the light blue T-shirt, complete with Mickey holding up a golden key, with the DVC logo at the top, is much more appealing to me. I loved the idea of having Mickey as part of the logo, which seems like a great way to link back into Disney. And, sure enough, he shows up on the luggage tag (sign me up for one of those too!), and the mug-now I wonder, can I get that one back home in one piece?
Apparently a lot of the inspiration for these designs came from research with Disney Vacation Club Members, and they wanted to see Disney characters incorporated into simple designs. I guess, had I been asked, I would’ve said something similar as well.
Of course, it wouldn’t be Disney without some new pins, and yes, there are new Disney Vacation Club pins available too. I was intrigued to see that the motto on the card that they come on says “vacation your way”. I wonder if we’ll be seeing more of that slogan in the future? Apparently, these four limited editions will be coming out quarterly throughout 2012.
But they’re not the only new pins on offer. I absolutely adored the pin that’s shaped like a key, with the motto “key to over 500 kingdoms” on the card it’s on. What a great slogan!
The blog also previews some of the new, vintage logos for four of the Disney Vacation Club resorts-Vero Beach, Hilton Head, Old Key West, and Saratoga Springs. I’m not a huge fan of vintage designs usually, but there’s something immediately appealing about these to me. I love the way that they feature Mickey, and Minnie, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with for all the other resorts. Just a personal plea guys-bring us the designs, and items soon for my favorites, the Beach Club Villas, and Animal Kingdom Lodge!
Sadly, Disney have confirmed that, certainly at this stage, the Disney Vacation Club merchandise won’t be available online. That means you’re going to have to wait until your trip to a Disney Vacation Club resort, and sadly that means a long wait for me. I’ll certainly be keeping a watching brief on ebay, just to see whether any of the new items show up there. After all, it’s not a vacation, until you’ve got something new to wear – right? 😉
So what do you think about the new Disney Vacation Club items? Will you be reaching for your wallet to add anything to your collection?
I just got back and saw the new merchandise! Most of it is great. I picked up the car magnet and the refrigerator magnet both. The tee shirts, unfortunately, are the cheaper ones Disney gets, guaranteed to shrink and twist. 🙁 I don’t understand why some of their shirts are good Hanes preshrunk cotton and some are that cheap 100% cotton that isn’t preshrunk that ends up toddler size. I wanted the coffee mug as well, but Wilderness Lodge didn’t have it. The merchandise wasn’t out until our last day there and I didn’t have time to get to another resort to look for it there. We also were able to get the pins. Hopefully, they will get shirts on better material and the mugs by our next trip in November!
Oooooh – those look like great items. Makes me wish I were a DVC member.
Well… that and about a thousand other things that make me wish I was a DVC member. 😉
Cheryl! I’d be happy to mail you some new merch–just let me know what you want!
I’m jealous that you’ve seen the merchandise Stephanie – and thanks for the first hand report. What a shame about the T-shirts and I do hear you about the quality of those, which does seem to vary at Disney. Like you, I hope they improve the quality of them, as the designs look great.
I may have to take you up on that offer Heather, as some of the merchandise does look great and I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
I saw the same post. I love the vintage logos for Old Key West & Saratoga Springs.
I have been e-mailing the cast at DVC for years regarding the sale of DVC merchandise on-line. Why not? D23 members can get their merchandise on-line, and they pay alot less than we do to gain membership. I have watches from DVC but would also like other male oriented jewelry ( tie tac, cufflinks, belt buckle, etc ).I hope they are also bringing back the car window cling with the DVC logo. Mine left when I traded my car for the new ride.
I was lucky enough to get the DVC sweatshirt when I was at the Boardwalk Villas back in early December. I was so excited to see the new merchandise! Can’t wait to head back to do some more DVC shopping!
Can you only get merchandise AT the various resorts? I was at Boardwalk in December and didn’t see anything in the shops. Where was I supposed to be looking?
Thanks.
In the past, I’m sure I’ve seen the DVC merchandise in the Screen Door shop at the BoardWalk.
